Title: Overheating
Post by: k777 on July 01, 2010, 06:02:25 PM
I haven't ridden my '98 GS500 in about a month as it didn't seem to be running very well. Since I'm waiting on parts for my other bike I figured I'd take care of the GS and yesterday I changed the oil filter, cleaned the air filter, and put in new spark plugs.
It's still not running well. It doesn't seem to have much pull and feels sluggish. Also, when I've been sitting in traffic - start and stop NYC traffic - there is white smoke that seems to be coming off the cylinder head fins. This happened occasionally before I did anything.
Any suggestions?

Thanks

the smoke is probobly oil leaking from a leaky valve cover gasket then getting burned.
As for the lack of power, make sure the cars are clean, working properly, and jetted correctly for you set up. also check your plugs they may need replacing.
