Title: FS: Parting Out 1989 GS500
Post by: Dr. Love on July 06, 2010, 05:10:40 PM
Heya! I've been away from the GS scene for a while after crashing my bike the day before I moved away for school. Another degree later, I'm back to part it out.

(http://lh3.ggpht.com/_w_xDVb98Cfo/TDO5w1C0oHI/AAAAAAAAGwc/KciMghd5z9k/s400/P1010668%20%28Large%29.JPG)(http://lh4.ggpht.com/_w_xDVb98Cfo/TDO54tS-3bI/AAAAAAAAGwg/puCj2_-32vA/s400/P1010671%20%28Large%29.JPG)(http://lh5.ggpht.com/_w_xDVb98Cfo/TDO5_4cuN_I/AAAAAAAAGwk/CrOpkKjjFco/s400/P1010680%20%28Large%29.JPG)(http://lh3.ggpht.com/_w_xDVb98Cfo/TDO6SWDOR9I/AAAAAAAAGwo/W8iQnwWSVV0/s400/P1010692%20%28Large%29.JPG)

Damage is primarily in the front end and the left side. The bike is located near Vancouver (in Langley), BC, Canada, in my parents garage, so shipping and picture taking will be on a half-week cycle - since I only have access to the bike Friday ~ Monday.

I'm terrible at setting prices, so just post or PM me with the parts you need and an offer.

Motor is available (without the pulse generator or the signal rotor, which had been sold) with 48,740 km (30,285 miles). Keep in mind shipping will be expensive  :icon_eek:. PM me an offer and a location so I can estimate the shipping for you.

WOAH! Mileage is beyond my comfort level. Not to say that its not in great condition, but I'm looking for something around 10. The only reason I'm posting this here and not PMing is so the other guy can see I've given up my spot if he wants to buy it. Good luck parting it out, its a shame to see 'er go!

I'm in Seattle. If you still have your tank and it is in usable shape, I'd love to make a deal and come pick it up. Can you contact me please via email? squire (at) non fiction photo dhot com (take out the spaces and change the at and dhot to their respective symbols, naturally).

Or call 206.407.6470. Thanks!

what about the right side cover and emblem? It would still fit an '09 F model right?

@ragecage23 The colors for the right side cover and emblem are different from the 98-01 models and i believe your 09 is grey/silver, so it probably wont work

Don't need the tank. Still would be fun to ride around Alki with other GS500 owners in Seattle.
Found a brand new in the box tank - in Germany! With shipping, maybe expensive, but it is new, unused, obviously zero rust, and don't have to paint it. So I think it was the right thing to do. Also found matching headlight cowling and tail plastic covers. So my bike will now be red - but it will look brand new and factory original. Working on another tank and if I get it, my present tank will go for sale. Its the black one in my photos.

Are you still parting this out? Could I get your two Headlight brackets? Also i have strange request. I need the little green and blue plastic covers for the turn signal and highbeam lights. So maybe you could pop those off? Let me know.

The clip-ons are sold. Sorry.

Only the clutch side is available, the clutch lever has a bit of rash on the ball. (Unless you are talking about the control pods, in which case both are available :)

I'm interested in the right side engine casing, where the pulse generator is. Are you selling this or the engine as a whole?

Whats Left?

I think the 1st post has a pretty good list of what's gone - so whatever is unsold is available (picture of what's broken ). CDI, throttle cable, and control pods are currently pending, but otherwise, everything is in a box or on the shelf somewhere...

I'm fairly busy preparing for my phd qualifier/comprehensive exam right now so response will be a bit slower than usual.
