Post by: mes_423 on October 26, 2003, 08:16:33 PM
well i thought my tach was broken so i checked the connections but they seem fine so i went for a ride, and i have to love tap it a few times befor it starts to work, even then some times it doesnt work. but anyway i noticed the tach only goes to 6000 rpms no matter how hard im running the bike. so is it broken? and if so how much does it cost for a new one?

Sounds like either the cable isn't tight or you have either a stripped tach drive gear or cable end. It's not a terribly complex piece of equipment, try taking it apart and see if you can identify what's not making a connection. If it's a gear or cable, replace the part. If not you may end up replacing the tach and/or cable. You should be able to pick one up fairly cheap on the board or ebay, etc.
