Title: new guy with pics of my bike.
Post by: FighterGS on July 13, 2010, 12:29:58 PM
I just wanted to say hi.  My name is Steve i bought a 2000 gs500e a couple of months ago for 1200 bucks.  the guy I bought it off highsided it at 30mph.  He parked it in his garage where it sat for about 6 years.  When i got it i had to redo the carbs three times and replace the whole fuel system.  So for about 1400 dollars i got a 2000 gs500 with 2000 miles.   Here are some pic from when i go it

Once I got it running I Started changing stuff. Frist to go was the ugly mirrors that i couldn't see out of anyway. I replaced them with bar end mirrors. Than it was time for the ugly mud flap to go. I moved the plate to the swing arm and added some bolt lights.  I also added flushmounts next to the brake light to get rid of the bulky stalks.

For the front I removed the stock headlight and turns and added a streetfighter headlight with built in turnsignals.

One of the nicer headlights I've seen. Kind of similar to the F headlights with custom brackets except with what looks like a projector headlight?

yes i did get to on ebay.  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270592592418&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT

Its a great fit. As long as you can wait the 3-4 weeks it takes to ship. Slim what plastics are you talking about the tail pieces.

i just had to flip the stock headlight brackets and i reused the stock hardware.  For the wiring i just put flat male termanels on the headlight and plugged them in to the stock h4 socket.

Is 25W sufficient lighting?  I was told they were quite dim.

The GS headlight bulb should be a 55/60w bulb. And it's plenty bright enough on a naked.
