Title: Exhaust Valve Clearance Question
Post by: steitsma on July 13, 2010, 12:53:27 PM
Ok, i just checked my clearances and i need to adjust the 2 intake to get in spec and i have read to leave the exhaust a tad loose from spec.  this is what i have on the 2 exhaust valve clearances, i can slide the feeler gauge in at .102 MM and fight in .127 MM although you really have to push hard to get the .127MM in.  should i adjust the shims to close the gap a tad or is it ok to run as is??  thanks for your feedback

.1mm is enough clearance on the exhaust. I wouldn't worry about it.

If you have to push hard to get the feeler gauge in, it means the gap is too small for the gauge. A feeler gauge should slide in with just a bit of drag.

BTW... I'd aim for a range of .08 minimum, to .13
