I haven't been around here in a while, but in the past I'd give stuff away for fun. So...here we go again! The only rule for getting it free is that you must actually need it, and have some sort of good reason why it should go to you.
It's a Shoei RF1000 helmet. I am the original owner of this helmet and it's never been down, dropped, or damaged in any way. If I had any question whatsoever about its integrity I would have thrown it out. It is a size large (59-60cm) I bought this new in November 2007. It's flat black (I think shoei calls it rubitone and it's not paint, it's kind of a thin rubber coating). There are quite a few little nicks in the finish from normal use. None of these in any way affect the helmet. Most of them are from taking the helmet in and out of my locker at work. My wife bought me a new helmet as a surprise gift today so I no longer need this one.
Also included are the original clear shield, a dark smoke shield, and a pinlock shield with a no-fog insert. The clear one has some slight scratches from 2 years of normal use. The other two are nearly new.
If you have a good reason why I should give it to you and you actually NEED it, it's all FREE.
Example of a good reason = "been riding in grandpa's old war helmet"
Example of a not so good reason = "my DVR forgot to record Mcgyver"

EDIT: If it's still around on Friday it's going on Ebay. My kitchen isn't always that messy. We're renovating. :D
Can I please get one of the visors! I hit a real nasty bug and now it is cracked not to mention three years of bug guts etc..
My excuse for not being able to buy a new one. July 4th, got off work shoulder started hurting a wee bit had a slight fever. Within two hours had a 102.9 fever couldn't move my right shoulder, neck got stiff couldn't swallow. I ended up spending six days in the hospital with "septic arthritis". I have to be on IV antibiotics for the next 3 weeks and no work for a month!
I will even pay for shipping! Puleez help me out
Mary
It's funny, when I was trying to by my bike the owner had a helmet just like that and I asked him to throw it in and I'll give him asking price but he refused.
It would go perfect with my bike, which has flat black on it.
I'd love the helmet, I can't give a great reason besides that I need a helmet and free means I can spend the money on the bike else ware =)
Edit: Oh when I say "I need it" meaning I'm using my buddies 4 wheeling helmet..lol
my entire gs is flat black, engine and everything. it looks like a beast. ive been shopping for a flat black helmet because somebody cut(yes, CUT) my helmet off of my helmet lock while i was in walmart last week. people are relentless these days.

Which one do you want Mary? Clear, no fog, or tinted? Have you tried plexus on the bug guts?

Good enough for me. It's only going to have 2 visors. Mary gets one too. Where are you at so I can figure out shipping.
Fog free would be great! I haven't tried that plexux stuff for the guts. But, I don't think anything will help the gouge. I don't know what kind of bug I hit but I'm sooo glad it wasn't my face that hit it!
:kiss3: Mary
I'll PM my addy! Lemme know how much shipping and paypal and I'll get it out to ya!
Pm'd. Thank you so much!! I had just gotten a HTC helmet for my birthday And you don't know how sad it was to walk out and see 2 inches of strap as the only remnants of my new helmet. I hope nobody else has to experience that. Thank you again!
Better than my best friend who went to put his on and found out that someone had pi$$ed in it!
Can't wait for a new visor :woohoo:
Mary
What kinda bug was this that cracked your visor? That would've scared the crap out of me. Glad I don't live in florida!
OH wow Mary, you are right- that would have been bad! Well I know my helmet! And if I see it hangin on the side off a bike somewhere here in town believe me I might be tempted to pee in it haha.
I think it was one of those massive grasshoppers that we have!

Isn't it great having bugs that you can only kill by stomping on them or drowning them!
It happened on the way into church. Imagine the look on some of the faces there when it looked like I had been in a fight with aliens.
It did stun me I was like WTF just happened and what did I hit. Kinda thought it was a rock at first until the appearance of all the guts.
I'll try to get a pic of the visor to show ya!
Mary
Hmm... we have grasshoppers but I don't think I've ever seen any when I was riding. I've definitely never seen a 4 inch long one though. I think on average the large ones here are 2 inches, but I'd say I've probably seen a 3 inch once or twice.
Are they considered one of the bugs that need to be squished down there? I've never even thought about how you'd have to kill a grasshopper. I know as soon as I see a millipede or other various things they get squished immediately, but I always figured grasshoppers were in that general catagory of lady bugs and lightning bugs where you just think "aww look at that", and pick it up to take it outside. It's one of the bugs that's been so overly cartooned for TV and movies that you forget it's actually creepy if you take a good look at it.
Oh those things are bad! If you got a garden and they invade insecticide usually doesn't kill them. In the spring months some areas are so bad you can't help but run over a few hundred on the road. Yes, you can see them from your car on the road. When I first saw them I was a little intimidated by them. Luckily, I'm more in town than out so I don't see them quite so much.
But, these things are far from lovable! They are right up there with lovebugs.
Mary
Ya know between the bugs, the alligators, and the old people why do people live in FL at all?
Can't afford to move out! But, riding all year is a great excuse too!
Mary
Darn missed out
