I love my helmet...it's never been down, but the visor is scratched a bit which is fixable...but the lining is really worn. It's hard and uncomfortable right now. I just want to reline the inside. Anyone have any tips?
most helmets have removable liners, just call the manufacturer to see where to get new liners.
How long have you had the helmet than the lining is hard and uncomfortable? For safety reasons, helmets are only good for a certain length of time.
After 5 years of use, you need to retire the helmet and buy a new one. The EPS liner brakes down over time, and is no longer safe after 5 years. Most manufacturers actually recommend replacing the helmet sooner than that.
I appreciate the advice, but it'll fall on deaf ears in this particular situation. My interest is in restoring this one.
Not saying its a good idea but it'd be easier to wear a beanie underneath. Cut some holes in it for ventilation and be done with it.
And the answer is that you can usually replace the comfort liner, you cannot replace the impact absorbing EPS liner. Your best bet would be to buy another helmet of the same model which has not been opened or used.

That's what I'm doing...not the impact foam. Last winter just wore the hell out of the liner. I got some good memory foam...about to bust out mah sewing skilz.
Hi all....While we are on the Helmet topic, I have a AGV K4 helmet and a rear vent on the back of the helmet has cracked and is coming away from the helmet. i was going to rip it off but it would be quite noticable and if a cop was to pull me over and somehow his attention was drawn to the rear of the helmet, he/she may question the "safety" aspect of the helmet. Can using fibreglass repair the external vent without it looking like an eyesore? I bought a new helmet HJC lotus 9which for a cheap helmet is suprisingly comfortable. Any advice?
I think Shoei sells replacement liners. Maybe you can buy one of those and Jerry rig it into the helmet. I was thinking about that for my shoei because just one summer season in Fl makes the insides a bit undesirable. Which is kinda what I hope you are doing.

Looking at the horror that was the interior of my old Bieffe before shopping for new helmets, I made "removable, washable liner" a must-have on the features list of my new helmet. That old helmet did not make changing or washing the liner at all possible/reasonable (all glued in place).
You can actually wash the liner in the helmet. Double check the manufacturers recommendations, but from what I recall, it's possible to hand wash the liner using shampoo.
If you know of a good tailor or upholstry person, they might be able to help.
