Title: Alright you primitive screwheads, listen up! See this?.......
Post by: vtlion on July 22, 2010, 04:40:04 AM
This...... IS MY BOOM-STICK! :2guns:

Yup, bought myself a little birthday present.  Its a Smith and Wesson MP1522.  A .22LR AR knockoff.  I shopped a bunch of options in this relatively new class of fun-gun, carefully compared it with the Sig 522.  Both got great reviews for reliability, but I decided on the S&W for several reasons:

First - the S&W has a 6 position adjustable stock, the Sig only has a small but-plate extension for two settings

Second - for 50 bucks less, the S&W comes with sights.  The Sig has no sights whatsoever out of the box... weird

Third - the S&W action locks open on an empty mag.  The Sig does not, but it has a fake slide release which is funny.

Fourth - online reviewers reported that the Sig mag won't drop under gravity (i.e. it takes two hands to remove it).  The S&W drops cleanly for easier mag switching.

I can't wait to get her out to the range and get started breaking her in.

Oh yeah, my pup got a birthday present too!

What a disgusting display of excess!  Don't you have anything better to do with you money?  Those things are way bigger than you would need, and they are DANGEROUS!!11!!!!   :cookoo:

I'm talking about the dog bone, of course.   Those rawhide things can fark up a dog's insides, and I hope you enjoy walking into a cold, slimy, half-chewed piece of rawhide on your way to the bathroom at 3:00am.

HA!  Yeah, the dog bone was over the top.  Not my idea, but a gift from my niece, so I had to allow it.

Love the M1.  What a great piece of history that design is.  I would very much like to own one someday.   :thumb:

Gorgeous guys.. just gorgeous.  The only thing I have is a S&W .40.  I would love to have an M1.  Love them.   :thumb:
And, yeah.  That dog done is way over the top.. bigger than the dog (unless that's just the angle of the pic.)   :dunno_black:

I had the same idea for a bday gift...just a little more retro.  I got myself a '94.
That's a sweet looking gun and the best part is being able to shoot all day for $15!  Congrats and get a range report soon!

Slightly relevant:  I picked up a Mayflower 30-60 spotting scope for $9 at auction tonight and about 150rds of Iraqi 9mm for $5.

3 people I know and 1 who I was with shooting at the time have had their M&P15 22's fire out of battery and break the extractor/bolt assembly. When you send it in for warranty service don't send them a magazine... but they'll ship you another one when they send it back.

I am am just going to pick up a nordic components .22 upper for AR when I get around to it, which'll be abou tthe time I get my lower registerd as a SBR whicj will be when I can figure out how the hell to quit bleeding money to the tyrannical entity we call government.

BTW nice job keeping the booger hook off the bang switch in the picture... I see so many people in pictures with their finger in the trigger gaurd I want to scream. Enjoy the plinker, I have heard that once they get their broken guns fixed they run like champs. A couple of instructors tried to use them for a 2 day combat rifle course to see if they might be a viable alternative to having students use .223 for a 1000rd class. The S&W held up better than the colt but it didn't make it very far into the 2nd day before it took a big crap FYI.

Congratulations on your purchase; the Smith & Wesson M&P15-22 is my favorite .22 AR pattern rifle after a dedicated .22 upper for a standard AR lower, mostly because the operation is essentially the same (charging handle, magazine release, bolt catch, etc.). Nice trigger discipline too. Here's a picture of my family:

DPMS Panther Arms Lite-16 A1 - 5.56x45mm NATO
Henry Repeting Arms H001T Frontier Octagon - .22S/L/LR
Winchester 1200 - 12 ga
Ruger Redhawk - .41 Remington Magnum
Smith & Wesson M&P 40 - .40 S&W

Hey Homer I could use that on COD MW2. I mean you can knife someone half across the map with commando pro on so I'd luv to scope my enemy before teleporting  to take them out!

:woohoo:

I think I'm getting myself a late, second bday present tomorrow.  I got the urge for a more refined pocket knife.  My Chris Reeve supplier has to check and see if he has a Mnandi in stock, if so, I'm buying it tomorrow.

I gots to say, I do like the...

La Griffe Neck Knife

And along the same lines, the Hide Away Knife http://www.hideawayknife.com

(http://www.hideawayknife.com/pic/yurcost.gif) (http://www.hideawayknife.com/pic/midtigerclaw.jpg)

But alas, such things are Banned in Australia. As are telescopic batons, saps, public owning of tasers, public owning of pepper spray and pretty well anything else a person could use to defend themselves. Which means, we become masters at improvised weaponry - objects that don't look like weapons but which become so in the hands of someone that knows of its potential  ;)

Maybe if you're a Special Person you can, but otherwise, "no".

When our dickwad leader decided to Ban certain guns, steal our own $$$ with which to Forcefully buy back the now banned firearms... I had to get rid of two pump action shotguns and my trusty Ruger 10/22.

Now you need a Doctor's Certificate verifying you have a physical disability just to buy a semi-auto shotgun. And even then it can still only hold two shells!
