Title: Jetting with K&N and SV exhaust
Post by: 2Twin on October 27, 2003, 09:42:07 PM
I was checking out the Jetting matrix(What a cool idea) and havent seen anyone that has the K&N pod filter with a SV exhaust. I just got my filter today and was wondering where would be a good place to start. I am in Australia so the 40 pilots should already be in there. Ignition is already advanced. Temps here are usually around the 20 - 30 degrees but I am not sure of the elevation.

Any one with a similar setup or any suggestions from those in the know.

Everyone was right about that induction roar under throttle I cant wait to get the jetting right and go for a good fang.

K&N pod .. the one that covers both carbs in place of the airbox right... 150 mains with that.
Cool.

I was going to try this myself but after ringing around for jets they worked out to be around 8 US here and no one would give me a refund once I had worked out the correct to use just in case the 150 didnt work.

So I took it to the shop I usually go to and they did it for me and rebuilt the carbs and replaced a few little bits on the carbs as they went. Cost me close to 40 US which I was pretty happy with. It pulls absolutely amazing.
I need to speek to the guy that did it to double check what the other mechanic said but...

According to him they went with 130's and raised it a notch. This to me would be way to lean and I gave them some prinouts of the board here to give him a hand at a starting point. How do I check to make sure it is running as good as possible? (I dont have a Dyno or a gas analyzer in the shed unfortunately). I was wondering whether there were other differences in Aus bikes that would make it run good on this combo? Last but not least should I buy some 150's and put them in at least to verify or compare?

I am certainly confused as to why it is running so good. Maybe just leave it and be thankfull it is running good. I dont Know....

I think someone else with your setup went with 140. Try a search, maybe it'll show up.
Title: Chimivee did it...

Chimivee did it... Pods and stock pipe. He finally was debating whether to go with 150's and was happy with 147.5's... He was running stock pipe. If jets are $$$ out there lemme know and I'll send you some. They are cheap enough here and I believe I have some lying about in many sizes ... but no 150's They cost like $2.50 USD here and are easy to get.
But you might want to Check with him (chimivee) .
Cool.
