Title: changing starter clutch for dummies. plz.
Post by: clantonjosh on July 28, 2010, 06:41:19 PM
ok, ive searched the forums and cant seem to find a how-to. went to start the bike this morning and hear the starter spinning and nothing else. starter clutch? thats what i got from the multiple 'starter problems' posts. anyways, im not very mechanically inclined. i can take something apart and put it together, but as far as knowing what exactly every little part does, thats not me. so if someone could point me towards a how to, hopefully with pics or something, i would very much appreciate it.

oh, and a good place to get the parts would be cool too

Try the Haynes manual for the procedure, I'd give you a link but I'm on my phone atm. You can find a copy online just Google "gs500 manual pdf" As far as were to get parts, try calling up some local shops and see if they can help you. There's a few online vendors that others will chime in with. I had a very bad experience with Bike Bandit so you may want to be cautious there.
