I was browsing Home Depot a few days ago and came across some stove polish that I thought might be the solution to re-painting my exhaust. Here`s a pic:

Could it possibly work? I read about doing this in the wiki but a different brand of polish was used. Id like to re-paint my exhaust but without the trouble of sanding down, and then painting it.
there have been people on here use it, I myself used bbq grill paint from walmart.
Yep...I use it all the time. Quick, easy, convenient and gives good results assuming there is no significant pitting. Just rub off the worst of the old crud off the pipe first.
Try it yourself :dunno_black:.......if you dont like it dont use it and go with paint instead but if you are planning on taking the pipe off to paint it.........consider the infamous GS5 header bolts :D
That just made me cringe, haha. I've seen those on my bike, and they are rusted. Think I'd might have to use penetrating oil instead of WD40 to get those to move even an inch. Did you put the stove polish on without taking the exaust off?
Yep....still on the bike, lather it on with a rag , leave it for an hour or so and buff off. A couple of coats gives best results but dont do it when the pipes are hot.
Dont go anywhere near those bolts unless you have zero options left :D

What would I use for a buffer? Another rag?
Yea those bolts look ugly. Sprayed a lot of WD40 on them but turns out I don't have the right hex key now either. Maybe that's a sign!!!
Ahh the evil header bolts, I had to grind the heads off of mine last time i took them off, now I clean/replace the little bastards regularly
