My girlfriend recently was hit on her '95 GS500E, which messed up the frame and a bunch of the body work, but the motor is still in good shape. Besides looking for a good frame on a 500E to swap parts into, would the 500E motor fit into the 500F frame, if I found one of those? The only thing I can see that changed on the motor between those years was the addition of the oil cooler. With all the body work on a 500F, would I start having overheating issues with less air getting to the motor?
so much easier to buy a 500E with a blown engine
but it will fit in a F just don't run the lower fairings to prevent overheating
as long as you don't sit in city traffic jams the lowers could probably be installed
same frame
you will need to run the wiring from the 500e, as the 500f runs a different ignition pickup
If you were going to do it, you'd want to strip off the fairings to let it cool, and you'd have to stitch in the wiring. Probably easier to find an earlier bike with a blown motor.
Thanks, I'm just going to wait and find one with a blown motor that is local..........hopefully sooner than later...........
where is local?
Minneapolis/St. Paul (Minnesota) area.
