I don't know anything about this other than the website.   Styling cues are pretty remarkable, eh?

Looks like that Korean one that was here a few months ago... Whoo hooo 250 V twin that looks just like a GS and is more $$$ ... why has the world run out of used GS'es or as of next year new ones... Either make the same damn thing and sell it cheap, or make completely new things and sell it to new chumps... who in turn will sell it to me cheap in a few years...
Cool.

I would never buy one, even if it rode better than any other 250-500cc bike out there. The reason is simple: appeal. Its like driving a kia, it may be  a decent car, but really, if you can have a honda for about the same $$$, you take the honda.

yesh, de comet, but its a 600 not a 650, prob just an underbored 650 though, engines look identical. ive been looking over the GS frame and engine mouning points.  i was thinking alittle extra bracing for perimeter and loosing the double breastbone spars. some better gussets on the frame mounts and the engine case becomes part of the frame, only thing i can see the craddle helping is sag, i dont think the GS upper frame area suffers from twist. engine RR would be ALOT easyer. hell, could damn near just drop the bottom out of the frame for lower end rebuild. Wouldnt be hard to make a mount for top of head to meet with crossbar under the tank, only thing left is somehting protect the engine cases on a laydown, but then, the Stock SV doesnt have much does it.

I think they buy the frames form Suzuki.
Anyone notice it has a 150 rear tire? It might mean another bigger rim swap.
Those forks look sweet as well. :)

If you look closely, the frame is a bit different. Some tubes of the front section are smaller than in the GS frame.  They don't specify a power output for the engine... maybe it's so little people would start to laugh?

I mean, it's an aircooled V-twin engine, Kawasaki makes a 250 cc liquid cooled twin that produces a little less power than the GS (about 42 hp or so) so it would be impossible to get such an output from an aircooled engine.

A 150 size tire under a 250 cc bike is also funny. If you don't have a lot of power, you want skinny tires to turn quickly. You don't need the extra grip because you don't have that much power.

The bike is made by Hyosung, I know the brand from scooters. The scooters aren't really refined, don't have high build quality and they ride bad. Of course this could be different for the motorcycles, but I think it looks cheap.

Their other 250 cc bikes list 28 HP, I assume it's the same engine. So with the added weight and ~30% less HP, it will be pretty weak compared to a stock GS500.

If it's a close enough copy of the GS500's frame, maybe some parts will fit ours.
Title: Seen them...
Post by: The Buddha on October 29, 2003, 08:11:29 AM
I have seen the cruiser in person... The cruiser atleast looks fat and sorta big boy styled almost 650 vstar sized... The savage next to it looked tiny in comparison. They have a 11.2 to 1 compression... Yea... 11.2:1... they seem to forget that there is a reason we dont run such high compression on an air cooled street bike... yea seizing up/broken connecting rods etc etc... Sued... not likely... they prolly are making it with a licence from suzuki... suzuki probably thought they were done with the GS and decided to make whatever little $$$ they can by hocking off the blue prints and licence... but then their new entry level bike with the 33 inch seat height flops... Oh what a shock... and they have to bring it back... So it is back to the GS with a full fairing...
Cool.

I do kinda like that tail though.  Perhaps I'll have to look into a tail swap...
