VERY Cool. You should consider chopping your subframe, it would look sweet without the plastics. Whats that silver thing mounted on the frame in front of the valve cover?

That's the engine oil cooler found on '04 up bikes with fairings.

Hmmmm, I wonder if I could get one on an E. I guess I'd have to swap heads. Hrm.

Nice.  Naked's better!  But I can't see front turn signals?

might want to remove the fairing brackets as well, but I'm lovin' that head light! It looks sexy.

Thanks for the  :thumb:!

The brackets also hold the oil cooler lines so they have to stay...unfortunately. The turn signal bulbs are zip tied to some of the other wires nears the headlight. I am absolutely lovin' the way it rides now. Truthfully, it went from a wanna be sportbike (to me) to a sexy fighter. These lights are super bright too, a lot brighter than stock I think. Man it's just awesome!

This all started because I low sided in my gravel driveway a month ago (too much front break). I painted the plastics and was getting ready to put them all back on when I was looking at pics on this site one day, user "Homestyle" got me thinking of going the fighter route and using the "F" headlight instead of and "E" headlight. THEN! I found pictures of fighters with the dual headlights and I was hooked. I have to admit, it was a frustrating experience at times but I'm happy with the finished product.

I'd love to chop the seat and subframe but my wife loves to ride with me and that would axe that ever happening. The only other things I would like to do is maybe put a full system on it one day and possibly and chin fairing...who knows. Also thought about painting the tank black with a 3" strip of gold in the middle to match the new handlebars...now that would be sexy!

Isn't there any way to remove the brackets and use zip ties (like the one that holds the release cable for the seat) to hold the oil cooler lines?

I don't get it? "Street Fighter" = Idiot that takes and GS500F and turns it into a "regular" bike with ghey headlights, dorky mirrors, and rusted pipes? Explain this one to me?

Hey JB, you say I'm an "idiot"? You're the one who can't communicate intellectually a differing opinion without being an @$$hole about it.

Looks like a good start to a streetfighter project.

You should cut off the parts of the brackets that go to the fairings and just leave the part that holds the oil cooler lines instead of leaving the whole bracket.  Also I would say if you are going to repaint the tank to be black and gold then use that paint scheme to go through the whole bike and start painting the fork legs, motor, exhaust and truly make it bad a$$ looking.

I still personally like the look of fairings but hey thats me.

Someone needs some attention.

Are those bars the Streetfighters? I just put those exact ones (even the color) on my Speed Triple. I love them.

Thanks what other mounting hardware did you need? Or did it work with the stock brackets?

I ordered the "Deluxe mounting brackets". They're about $60 but worth every penny. I slid the tubes down out of the triple and slid them down the tube and bolted them all back up.

Like it,i reckon you need to see the motor on a bike for it to look like a real motorbike.I wouldn`t call a bike with a full fairing and extras a streetfighter just a sports bike with accesories.

yup, my '07 looks identical! those fairing bits are not only ugly (imo), but weigh a ton. on the frame it says GS500FH, the FH stands for F*ckin Heavy!
I do miss the wind protection on the freeway though.

This morning on my way to work I did a wheelie for the first time ever without meaning to! I guess the loss of weight had something to do with that. Pretty cool..

Jon~
I like it, but then I would eh?

I took the oil cooler brackets off, no worries on the cooler lines. They are very stable without the brackets.

Very cool. I'll do that this weekend probably. How are you liking the Delkevic? Mine seems like it gets more and more throaty sounding with age. Love it!

GS500..."streetfighter"?  I suppose if you define the word "fight" to include the phrase "windmill girlie slaps" then, yes, it is a streetfighter.   :icon_lol:

Seriously, though...that is a farking NICE bike!    (golf clap)

Thanks! Yeah, I guess "streetfighter" is a stretch...how about "pseudo-streetfighter"!?

I think it's got a good look to it.... I like them either way though.  I have seen people take a full fairing sport bike and SF it .... wouldn't do that myself unless my plastics were rashed to heck but I have had friends do it.

I do like the wind protection with the fairings especially on the highway.  She looks sharp either way.  Are the dual lights both on all the time or one bright one dim?

I don't recall which sportbike has one headlight off but that seems to make it look defective...would have redone that design if it were up to me.

Either way....enjoy it how you like it. :thumb:

Thanks Scott! Yeah, both headlights are on full time in either high or low and they're brighter than stock too which is nice. I don't like riding at night usually but I won't be leaving work today until after dark so I'll get to see how well they do at night tonight. I figure I'll be happy, just may have to do some aligning.

I think you will like them. I like that each can be moved independently. I have one aimed a little lower than the other, shows the stuff closer on the road while the other lights up a little further down.

BTW I am lovin the Delkevic. Great sound.

I know I'm late to the party, but I like the way yours came out! i have a blue/white 2007 and I (semi-independently) decided to go for the streetfighter look in just the same way you did. I only got the bike a couple days ago, so all i have done yet is strip off all that plastic and order some parts.

I am glad to hear the Dominators are bright enough. Mine are on the way.

How about those bar end mirrors? They are one thing I have yet to order. I'm worried they won't be heavy enough to dampen vibrations like the stock bar ends and so will be useless at high engine (read: vibration) speeds. also, how have they held up? Looks like the standard issue $20 Ebay folding bar end mirrors, right?

Any other tips? My plans (cosmetically) are strip fairings obviously, dual headlight, bar end mirrors, some lower profile turn signals all around, fenderectomy. Anything else I am missing or should consider? My plan as of now is to make everything reversible if I decide I need some cool-weather protection once the New England winter is over.
