I love that SV1000S. Its on my short list of new bikes.
Right now, Im choosing between a GSXR750, an SV, and a few others. My list changes often,a s I hear what people have to say about bikes.
But the SV is pretty rad. Good power, lots of torque, nimble, and comfortable.

mines better!!! :nana:   (its not in the avatar, its my sig) I just "stole" it from some guy on another board. You could go to google or something and look up animations or something of the like.

And about the sv1000, i'd most certainly kill myself on a litre bike. Not a question, just twist, and im gone. I'd need to get used to not opening the throttle all the way every time i want to go faster :nono: . A 650 though, that would get me used to it, THEN I could step up to an R1 or the gsxr or the sv. No busa/zx12r though, i'd still kill myself!

hell for all we know one of us could step out the door and die. if i had 8600 bucks laying around that would be my first choice of bike to buy.

true, but it increases your chances of not living by a bit more. And the way i trash my GS on my roads isnt safe already, so give me like 4x the power and i'd certainly be in for something bad. It does look VERY VERY VERY cool though.

Some guy at my school has the silver one. I parked next to it! It made mine look cooler i think, just being near it. He's got either a D&D or a V&H on it, because he started it up (oh god how fuel injection rules). Turns from the parking space, reved it, nearly blew my ears out, and just wheelied down like 1/8 mile of road to the stop sign. (wheelies are another reason i wouldent last long on a litre bike  :thumb:

my friends gix 1k (o3 f.i.) , which i rode but damn it scared a few years off of my life. thing is sooooooo sensitive, i mean just a mil. twist on the go grip, an its tached up all ready, i mean you could probably fart on the throttle grip and it would go.

Domik, what you (and I) need is something with the torque curve of the SV, the fun-factor of a reasonable displacement, and (sorry Duc) no expensive cam adjustments... which you can all get in:

The 53hp 2003 SV400:thumb:

See
http://www.suzukicycles.org/SV-series/SV400-SV400S.shtml for more.  Sorry, folks, not available in stores (unless you live near the rising sun).

Write to Suzi America if you want this imported!

i usually snag one from gixxer.com when i see one that catches my eye..

hehe.. funny i should mention eyes... and avatars.. reminds me of casimir's wonderful avatar... :thumb:

I think liter bikes are to be respected and NEVER ridden at WOT.. they are scary.. but cool nonetheless, and if you can ride a liter bike well, you can ride anything..

If all my roads were straight and traffic free, I would love a liter bike but in my world the GS is the bees knees.

I like the idea of the new SV1000 a lot, but have been disappointed by the execution.  Its a great engine, which was compromised by the lousy rear suspension in the TL1000S and heavy weight of the TL1000R.  Going for an upsized SV seemed like a no brainer, but they made the position very sporty (puts a lot of weight on your wrists, high and rearset pegs) and those new SV frames and plastic are just butt ugly imo.  Construction looks pretty cheap too.  I think an Aprilia Falco is a much better execution of that style of bike, though it does cost a good bit more.

I personally like the fully naked one better.  I know I'm not ready for a liter bike (or liter bike insurance) but I'd still love a naked one with bolt ons.  ohhhh the uncapped sound of a liter twin is one thing dreams are made of

I still say the SuperHawk is the best sounding bike I've evar heard.  I'd get one of those for sure.  I'm afraid to ask what insurance is on one though.

hehe, gimme one of those SV400's.  I'll be in Japan soon enough
Umm... frame looks the same... i wonder if the bike is the same physical size as the SV650?  Surely more comfortable than being 6'3" on a CBR400 :)

Too much bike for many people.  I was at the Suz dealer and the salesman and I were talking, he was telling me how the SV was a wheelie machine (not surprised) and the front end comes up way too easy in first and second gear.  He road the z1000 and said the power hit was harder at high rpm but softer down low making it a bit easier to ride.  I consider the z1000 insane to ride so the SV1000 must be similar or worse with that low end torque.

Too easy to lose control, get on the gas at the apex and the front comes up and you swing wide and crash, or you accidently wheelie doing a fast start and panic and fall off.  These things happen.  A sv650 has less of a chance of these things happening.  Just my opinion.

O.K., I just have to put in my 2 cents, I've been riding 17 years and have found no greater fun than on small bikes...why? Because I don't have to shut off for turns! Nail the throttle at 60mph and I don't have to touch the brakes, worry about popo, suffer pucker factor...so now I can just concetrate on form, smoothness going through the turn, line selection, all those things that a real roadracer (former) and motorcyclist strive for in efficiently knocking off a bunch of turns. It's not so much going fast (anybody can go fast in a straight line), but it's in trying to go fast. The challenge of going fast is removed when you buy something that can do it all by itself. There is a gentleman that rides a 250 Ninja and regularily spanks guys on R1's. Why? Because he is a good motorcyclist and has honed his skillza.

I outride many of my friends on their 600 Supers, it's about line and execution, not about horsepower.  It's fun passing on the outside of a turn carrying 10-15 MPH more than an F4i and then having it blast by you in the straight so you can do it again.
