First off, sorry it's not at all bike related but... Can someone make sure the owner of this site gets this link. Its a good article about misc. forums and blog owners getting SUED over copyright material being posted. Just want him to verify he's in the clear. Hate for GSTwin to have any problems.

Admins: feel free to delete or move this, just pass the link to the owner. :D Thanks
So to be protected from these lawsuits, you have to register your contact information with the US Copyright office. Then when Righthaven finds a some of their content on your site, they find you are registered and can't sue you -- they have to send a C&D letter. Bet they don't even waste their time with that and move on to the next sucker.
As the owner of a forum myself my policy is not allow any copyrighted material to be posted. Im sure this forum follows the same policy.

Yeah true, but these were small potatoes.(IMO) Just a bunch of articles purchased from RJ. I can see it as an honest mistake, and one that might be overlooked, to paste an article or a part of one on a forum instead of providing a link just as I did. I do understand the basics of copyright so I'm not questioning the legality, just the necessity. Like the article's writer said, cash grab.
Oh, and if the owner has received the link, can we get some technical assistance in moving this convo to the "Odds n' Ends"? :dunno_black:
Yup, we do our best to protect copyrights (and ourselves). And we appreciate when members watch out for us, too! :kiss3:
Moving to Odds 'n' Ends! :thumb:
eff the copyright holders.
it's a picture, a series of pictures, or an audio stream. so what, you spent 20 years and millions of dollars promoting something, it doesn't matter. it's a digital copy of whatever you made, and now it's on the intarweb. get over it. suing forums that learn / poke fun / ridicule / abuse / whatever your 'rights' of a work is just petty crap.
if you don't want someone to manipulate it in some way, don't freaking sell it. hoard it away and never let it out in the light. oh wait, this is about MONEY, NOT ART, I'm sorry, i almost forgot that part. pfffft whatever. copyleft. patentrash. i like china's way of doing things... ;-)
one can also look into the fair use provisions. buT yes im glad were all looking out for this site and others. this site is like a second home to me
