Title: HEY GUYS...LONG TIME.....I JUST MOVED ALSO...CURIOUS ABOUT GAS TANKS
Post by: Sinisterpolarbears on August 14, 2010, 06:56:45 PM
Whats up everyone? i haven't been on here in some time. i still have my 2000 gs500e and have made some changes and still making some. i customized the paint job and a few other bits turning my bike into Starwars Mandalorian warbike hahaha. if you are a starwars fan you will see what i am talking about. anyways i just moved to Menasha, Wisconsin from my previous home in Clearwater, Florida....do any of my fellow GStwin riders live near me? so i was curious also if anyone has a list of gas tanks that will fit a 2000 Suzuki gs500e?

its still a work in progress but i love the freedoms of this type of bike to really do whatever you want to it.

I like the tail light, I'm wondering if you have anything that separates the two bulbs? Or what did you do to separate the light so cleanly?

Holy Turds!  Original content!  On GSTwin?  How dare you!
Paint it matte black right now!

But seriously, what's wrong with the tank?  It fits the theme, to me.  Worn, nearly dilapidated.  Does it leak?

i ran electrical from an extra wire in my head light case back through the body of my bike stopping at the engine bay lights and continuing back to the fender.....this way they come on when the bike is turned on and shut off when the bike is off. the original idea was to hook it so the light in the back came on when the back brake was pressed, but i didn't like how it looked. i used a White LED and used a milky white sheet of plastic to defuse the light shining through the stencil. i built my own plastic box that houses the light, actually holds the plastic in place as well as keeps water from going on the light or electrical.

hahaha, your hilarious. it actually was painted matte black before i did this, how funny is it that you said to do that haha. i am wanteding to explore different tanks to see if i can get a different look and also because i am not very happy with the bondo job i did on the dent. i would like to get a tank so i can leave that one on and drive it and have some time to really work with the paint concept of the new one. i painted the old one while it was on the bike, just taped off EVERYTHING. it would be nice to be able to sit down and take my time with the tank and have a design really talk to me.

What are you, one of those smart fellers?  We don't take too kindly to your type around here!

Check for swap meets, if they have them in Wisconsin.  I dunno.
Ebay will eat you alive, especially for the newer rounded ones.  Only ones less than $250 or so have cracks and dents.
Used section on here's not too bad, as long as you're not the one selling.

I need a design/badge for the side of my green Versys.  Just haven't found it yet.  Opinion?
