Title: Parts. There's so many parts!
Post by: SlimKlim on August 15, 2010, 11:07:12 AM
I've broken down both of my extra motors and gone through my plethora of other parts to get everything organized and inventoried. Prices are extremely reasonable, and do not include shipping. I'm not looking to retire on these guys, but try not to beat me up too bad with lowballs. I'm asking less than most of the guys on eBay. Be warned, these are all going to join the fray on eBay in short order, so speak now if you want something. ;)

EDIT 8/19:

I officially have a CDI/Igniter Box from a 2001 I thought my bike needed but didn't. $80 I'll get a picture of it soon.

The gentleman that sold me my replacement motor was unwilling to give me a cash refund for the damaged head, so he offered to send me parts, he didn't have anything I needed so I just had him send me a good head. When it arrives next week I'll unwrap it, inspect it and test the seals, then box it back up for a new owner. $200 if it passes inspection.

He didn't want me to return the bad head, so I have another damaged head available. This one has 10,000 miles and the valves are in great shape but there is some external damage. The tach drive gear is partially broken and stuck, and the bottom thread of the left intake has been broken off. A head shop will have to add material and then cut new threads. If anyone wants me to I can get quotes to have the gear removed and that intake fixed. $30 the way it is. This one could be a steal, I can't imagine a shop charging any more than $50 for that repair.

EDIT: 8/20: The generator rotor I hadn't listed in here but have been pedaling elsewhere is now sold.

One blown head. Left exhaust valve is shot, needs a rebuild. Good for someone that's trying to build a race or hot-rod motor. $30.

Good luck with the sale.

Not to be critical, but the cam journals should really be paired with their respective cylinder head...they're line bored as one piece.  Mixing and matching generally doesn't work.

Any chance you'd want to sell that little cover bolted onto the sprocket cover that has the clutch cable on it? I'm having a hard time finding just that little piece. It's the one that's a slightly oblong oval with the 2 screws in it.

You just want the whole thing for $10?  :D I doubt anyone will want to buy it with that piece missing or I'd be more willing. Maybe I could be persuaded, send me a PM with an offer or what you're thinking.

Original post updated with new items for sale. Buy my stuff peoples! I'd rather sell it all to you guys than release it to the wolves on eBay. This format is so much easier.

also not to be critical, but those arent pushrods. those are connecting rods.  GS500s dont have pushrods so i cant really show you one off your bike, but push rods are used on non-overhead cam engines.  the cam is down in the case or block and the cam lobes will lift "lifters" which transfer the motion all the way up to the rocker arms via push rods.  and the rocker arms pivot opening the valves.  :thumb:

These look just like the one on my 07 other than being black.  Is that correct?  If they'll fit my bike I'd like the one with no scratches  :thumb:

Yes, it will fit the 07. I'm sure you could paint it fairly easily to make it a close match to the GS500F color. PM me your shipping address and I'll get a shipping quote.

BUMP!

I'm in college and very very very poor. I work nights as a delivery driver and no one wants to buy food this semester. No reasonable offer will be refused, I gotta get some of these parts out of my apartment and some money in my pocket so I don't have to sell the bike.

Thanks :) I think that's why these parts are going so slow, they are all motor parts, and you have to be in the middle of building a bike up to need any of it. If I had clip ons or body panels to sell they'd be long gone.
