Title: Wanted: Rubber around Tank, and under tank ***SCHEMATIC PIC INCLUDED***
Post by: utgunslinger13 on August 19, 2010, 09:14:28 AM
Hello,

I'm in need of the black rubber pieces marked #8 (or #4 on the other tank), #15, and #16 in the follow pic:

Mine are completely smashed and causing the tank to lean to the right so much its hitting the frame and vibrates like a B!TCH!

Shipping to 43016.

Thanks,

Nick

To be honest, I went to Pep Boys and just bought the black rubber door edge guard. Same stuff.

Ive tried the rubber trim around the tank edge, it only works for a while before it vibrated out of place or the tank cuts through it. Here's how I fixed my buzzing issue. Part 15 takes the full weight of the tank and over time the rubber degraded and contact between the tank and frame occurs. Trade the places of 15 and 16, grab some largeish washers ( I used 2) and stick them between the tank and rubber isolated. When you bolt the tank back on, you'll have gained some clearance.

Those aren't plentiful as spares.... You might as well order one....they are what $5 on bike bandit..?

I'll poke around my "warehouse" later but I think your best bet is to just order one.

I used the same on the stuff around the tank. For those rubber washers I also just flipped one and stuck a thicker metal washer on the top. You could also get some plastic/rubber washers from home depot and stack them under there.
