My gs500e is a CA bike.
my question is, are the signal rotors the same for CA and non-CA bikes? i thought i read somewhere that the signal rotors were advanced differently for CA vs. non-CA bikes (due to emissions standards?)
anyone care to shed some light on this?

so what does that mean in terms of advancing the timing? I have a CA bike and I have a spare rotor (pretty sure it's nonCA). I want to send one rotor out to Bob Broussard to do the timing advance. Which should i send?
since the 2 rotors have different degrees of advancement, would it matter which one i had in my bike currently?

Both the CA and NON-CA have the same advance, 40*, above 4000rpm. the only difference is the ca one starts at 5* where the non-ca ones start at 12*. Just to note, all 01+ have the came rotor, 5*, ca or not.
so if yours is an older one that has the ca 5* stock then putting a non-ca rotor will advance the timing at idle/very-low rpm by 7* but not be much different at over 3000rpm and they are exactly the same over 4000rpm. If your wanting to advance it beyond that, do it. just dont go over 5* with either rotor.
