Title: What about white rims?
Post by: adidasguy on August 21, 2010, 11:52:04 PM
I saw toogoofy had white rims. Were they an option or an after market purchase? I was thinking my white GS500F 2009 would look pretty cool with white rims. Where could I get them? I plan on keeping my GS and "pimping her out". After all, I've added LEDs that someone said made her look like a rolling Christmas tree at night.  Say what you want. I love my GS and think the more white the better she looks. She will soon need her 4000 mile maintenance and I could have the dealer swap out the rims while the rest of the work is being done. (While I love doing electrical work, I prefer to leave the mechanical to the dealer). Bought her May 4 and ride her every day - rain or shine (Seattle, what would you expect?). What a great stress reliever!
I also have a couple friends looking for bikes sometime soon. So IF there are any GS's for sale in the near future in the Seattle area, I'd appreciate knowing.

I have white wheels. I have a '92 and they came with it. I absolutely hate them, impossible to keep clean from grime and brake dust. If I hadn't just replaced the tires on them I'd be trading for a set of the gun metal wheels. Or maybe I'll strip them, paint them gun metal, and polish the lip. I did just see a vid on how to unmount/mount tires http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=53653.0 (http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=53653.0)

Yeah, I think they came stock on 92 and 93 GS. Like I said alot of the folks hate them so you might be able to get a trade going.

I do have an extra white rear rim. So, before you spend alot of money at a dealer try the for sale section and I'm sure I can work out an awesome deal with ya for that back one.

You seem dead set on white rims, but for a whit bike, I think that having the wheels done gold would look pretty cool. I don't know how much powdercoating would be though, because all my powdercoated parts were done by my race team's sponsor (I participate in Baja SAE) for free, and those parts were for the car.

They had White wheels from 89-95....They changed the frame and wheel color in 96....then changed the frame color back again (after 1 year maybe...?).

I absolutely LOVE white rims. The late 80's - early 90s just about all had white rims.
