Title: GR650 and GS450 transmissions

So here's my little dilema: I have the plain old 5 speed in my GR motor and a friend has a blown GS450 motor just sitting around. Any way to swap the tranny? Surely somebody here has at least tried it.

I dont think you can swap the tranny.  The places for the bearings are very precisely machined and it would need to be a custom job to make everything line up which would end up costing you more than a new bike.  Gears must be aligned very well or they will produce noise, wear out early or strip.

Why would you want to? The 6 speed is a PITA! I'd rather have a 5 speed any day.
