So I installed my Delkevic r6 exhaust, and a KN drop in filter, in the stock air box
Rejetted the carbs from 17.5/60/127.5 to 17.5/62.5/142.5. The new pilots didnt come with my order, here next week
Also 2 washers under needle raising it just over 1 mm
turned air screw out 3 turns
this is on a 03
Buttoned everything up, went for a spin, bike pulls well untill 7500 or so, then flat spots, it flattens even earilier if a really crack on it, but just rolling on the throttle it flattens out at 7500,
Bike starts excellent, choke for 20/30 seconds 4000 rpm, take of choke, idle at 1000 cold, 1300 fully warm, good throttle response from idle
I am assuming that the mains are too small, was wondering what size to jump to next 145, 150?
thanks, Dave
I would go up two sizes - that way if it is too rich, you know you have to go down one size. If it's still lean, go up 2 more.
So, after multiple times changing the needle heights, and test drives, I discovered that i was actually too rich, adding another washer made it almost un-drivable, I figured what the hell and returned to the original position, with one washer under the plastic spacer, And what do you know, it works, there is still a small flat spot around 9000, but other than that it is good. I may try a 145 main later, I ordered one but its on back order
final settings are 17.5/62.5/142.5 I am still going to replace the pilot with a 20, (its on back order as well)
3.5 turns
one washer
the best part is now I can remove the tank in about 3 min ;)
thanks, Dave
when you put the new pilot in, I would try it without the extra washer on the needle. that would tell you if you are still slightly rich, or lean. I run a 142.5 main with a slipon and lunchbox filter, and it ran great! so you may still be slightly rich.
