A man who was caught riding his motorbike along the Eastern Freeway in Melbourne with a barbecue strapped to his body was fined $800 today and lost his licence for one month.
Michael Wiles spotted the cast-off cooker on the nature strip where it had been left for rubbish collection and, not wanting to splurge on a new one, decided to pick it up and take it home.
The 29-year-old proceeded to thread his body through the barbecue's frame and popped up the grate in front of his helmet before setting off along the Eastern Freeway in Kew on January 27, 2008, reaching estimated speeds of 75km/h.
He might have been in Australia, but he was a New Zealander. :cookoo:
We deny all responsibility!

Is this all about the grate? I mean, if there wasn't a grate, would he have gotten a ticket?
Bloody nanny state Victoria. Kudos to the man.
ive ridden like 30 miles wearing a motorcycle tire for a belt, to go get it mounted, I didn have any trouble, but then again there wasn't a grate in my face
I had a Zach Thomas Fathead attached to the back of my bike once. It was on sale at GoodWill for $3. They retail for $100 so yeah strapped that bad boy on!

They're an ingenious mob the Kiwis, just look at the extra uses they have for sheep.
They could save some money on feed and use their land for other things if they got some of these:
