Title: katana spring on gs shock?
Post by: BeerGarage on August 27, 2010, 01:20:44 PM
Has anyone tried to remove the katana spring and put it onto a gs shock, or vice versa?

The katana spring looks like there is a way to get it off of the shock.  I do not have the gs shock off of the bike so I can not see how it might come apart.

I got the 1993 katana 600 shock/spring on ebay and it looks like junk because the shock is leaking.

Thanks

If I were you, I'd buy another shock. The GS shock is garbage.

With that said, measure the inside diameter of the spring. If it's the same as the GS shock, you should be able to swap them. IMO, more trouble than it's worth, and I'm pretty sure that the springs are not compatible.

why not just run the katana shock? depending on year, some are a direct fit, and the stock shock adjuster tool will work too

OP said the Katana shock he bought was leaking.

I took the spring off of the katana shock.  the katana shock is toast.  even on the hardest setting i can push it all the way in with one finger.  bummer.  ebay trash.

i have a gsxr750 shock too.  just for reference the katana spring is way smaller than the gsxr spring.

i would use the gsxr shock, but i do not want to grind and weld anything.  wah wah wah, my panties are too tight and i'm getting my period.

end

Hell, I *am* willing to grind up stuff, and I wouldn't install a GSXR shock on this bike.
