Title: 2004 GS F model
Post by: ssinema on August 27, 2010, 07:44:09 PM
Feeling out the market, and either going to sell it, or part it. I have changed to a cruiser and haven't ridden my GS in over two years. It sat for a long time, so I pulled the carbs and cleaned them, but still cant get it to run right. It was "dropped"( so Im told) by the previous owner on the right side, and I laid it down on the left at 35 mph in the mountains. The right side fairing was replaced when I bought the bike in 2006. The left is cracked in two places that have been repaired underneath with fiberglass resin and tape. The left side of the motor is scratched up, as well as the muffler. Before I put her up she ran great and was a joy to ride, I just prefer my cruiser now, my wife does too. (she always thought I'd kill myself on the GS!)  :icon_lol:
It has 8230 miles on it, but like I said, it doesnt start unless it is fully choked, and when you give it throttle, it dies. It will need a new set of tires, and a front brake line in order to be ridden every day.
I will take and post some current pictures in the morning.
So what do you guys think...should I attempt to sell it like it is or part it out? I owe 1200 on it, and the bank still holds the title.

Please let me know what you think. I am sure that I could take it to a shop and have it running good again easily, but I dont ever ride it, so it doesnt make sense to me.

Thank you all.

Sterling

Here are current pictures of the bike.

listed in order of what i recommend

fixing it yourself would be the most cost effective...and you'd be able to sell it for the highest going rate.

parting it out would also net you some cash but it'd be alot of foot work and wrenching.

having a shop fix it then selling it would be the least cost effective. depending on the mechanic you know this may be the worst option.
