Title: How do I use a dial carb sychronizer?

A friend lent me his dial-type carb sychronizer, but not instructions. My clymer manual says to set the idle to 1,750 and adjust the balance until they're the same. I'm guessing the dial is supposed to jump back and forth fast enough that it's obvious where it's pointing. Problem is, I can't seem to get the two dials to look obviously different. There are two normal zones. Should I worry about just making the needles on the two carbs behave the same or am I supposed to get them both in the 'normal' part? Thanks!

im assuming the guages point 180degrees normal and goes down for vacume and up for pressure..

anyways, the needles should act the same(be the same place)

the "normal" zone is just where the pressure should be for that bike

just get them to act the same, at higher rpms, it should suck more, i think.. but its best to do it at high rpms because the needle wont move as much

Why do you need to set the idle up when adjusting the carbs?

at low rpms, (when the piston sucks in air it creats a vacume and when it compresses and fires, the carb is shut off, so no vacume) the guage moves alot

so it goes from 0-vacume, if the rpms are faster, there is less time for it to go from vacme-0-vacume, causing the guage to go back and forth

ideally, you coulc get it going so fast, its a constant vacume and the guage would be still
