Title: Carb rebuild help
Post by: shininggs on September 05, 2010, 10:19:36 PM
I have a set of carbs that leaks gas when the motor is off and the fuel line is still on.  I tried to adjust the floats, but I don't think I did a good job.

Is there anyone that I can send my carbs to that will perform a complete work up on them.  I replaced all gaskets and used rebuild kit, but....still leaks.

Just pull the bowls off again. Take the floats off (watch the float needles though - they will fall out and into a black hole). Chances are the float needles are upside down or dirty.

How did you set the floats? They can be picky sometimes.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.  BTW...I used a float gauge.

Ok, just curious.

Take 1 bowl and 1 float off at a time. If you push the float needle up with your finger and turn the petcock on, no gas should come out. Then try the other carb.

How are the settings on the GS500 petcock? Reserve, on, and prime?
