Quick question:
Riding yesterday and when I used the rear brake I got no response. I was breaking in a new pair of boots and thought maybe that was restricting movement in my ankle or something. I get to the store and on inspection, I can easily push the lever with no feedback at all.
Tried to bleed it and when I do, I can get it to expel fluid (levels were fine, no leaks). But really there is no spongy friction when you depress the lever. If it was a car I'd describe it as the "petal goes straight to the floor".
I was thinking master cylinder but with that problem wouldn't you get a spongy type feel and lessening braking power over time? This was "one day you have brakes and the next you don't" sort of symptom.
Check all your nuts and bolts in the system.
Just behind the right foot heel plate is the lever point and line piston. You need to remove the three bolts on the plate to expose it so you can see if the nut there (just above the lever point on on the Rod) is loose or not.
