LOVE THEM,
the tires that came on the bike were bald, and uneven, making ride a little strange when turning,
Now it turns very smooth, no complaints,
I noticed the tires on the bike were 130/80s rear, 110/70 front
I am now running 140/70s and 110/80s
I am thinking I should have gotten 110/70 fronts but ohhwell
Whats up?
I have the exact same setup except, I have a 150 on the back and my front is a 70 series. I love them as well. THe bike just falls into turns so nicely. Its great hey?
Why do you think you should have gone to the 70 series? BT45's are great tires!!! Do a big ol burnout first thing. Get some of the slick stuff off your tire. At least that can be your excuse. Thast what I did in my cul-de-sac with neighbours watching is disbelief. Its funny.
I have michelins MT 75 on both wheels. My problem is that the rear one is already worn out but the front one is OK. After reading what everyone says about Bridgestones I want to put a BT on the rear.
The question is: Is it bad to have a bridgestone on the rear and a Pirelli on the front?
Do I have to change both tires even if the front one is stil serviceable?
Thanks....
You dont have to have the same tires. If the front tire is still good, than keep t on there! If it were a car with 4 wheel drive, tha it would eb a proble,. but not so much on a motorcycle. At least thast what I have been told. I like to mix and match rubber. Soemtimes I will like a front tire by one manufacturer, and hate their rear tire, so I buy a differant brand all together. Buy the BT45's, you wont regret it!
For info on the stock tires, go to the GS500E-specific page (http://www.mawonline.com/XGS500E.HTM) on the Motorcycle Accessory Warehouse website, and look under the Bridgestone heading.
PS - Do NOT buy these!
Sorry - I have no experience (or even knowledge) about that particular tire.
But, I just looked on the Pirelli page (http://www.accwhse.com/pirelli.htm) on the Motorcycle Accessory Warehouse website (http://www.accwhse.com/). The price kinda indicates that they're not a top-of-the-line tire, but they sound OK. Here's the description, which probably came from Pirelli:

By the way, I'm not familiar with the 'S' part of the tire size info (100/80S16). Hopefully your sizes are closer to stock than the ones listed here (110/70-17 in the front and 130/80-17 in the rear) .

juanfer: I found an official Pirelli page (http://www.pirellimoto.com/tires/catalogo/scheda.asp?ID=149) that talks (briefly) about the MT75 and the sizes and speed ratings it comes in. It also shows the tread patterns for the front and rear.
I can't see anything wrong with the MT75 - if you've been happy with it and it's cheaper than the BT45, go ahead and mount another one.
Elsewhere on the Pirelli site the MT75 is grouped in Pirelli's "Sport Touring X-ply" line, as opposed to their "Sport Touring Radial" line. To me, this means that the MT75 is a bias-ply design, and you should be able to mix a BT45 rear with your MT75 front if that's the route you decide to go.
One more thing. The Pirelli page shows that the MT75 is available in speed ratings of P, S, H and T, depending on the size. I would recommend the H rating, which they make in the stock sizes.
just wanted to add some info for anyone interested. i just switched from the stock tires to the new pirelli sport demons. I am running a 140/70/17 rear and 110/70/17 front. So far I can't say enough good things about them. They aren't radials, but they handle like they are. The stock tires always made the bike feel like it wanted to flop over on me, especially during slow speed turns. Not anymore. just thought I would mention it.
