Guys, ive been gone over a month it seems, my health is failing. had to get a refund on my paid up internet ( that was a Buddha Loves You from comcast) kidneys are goin, nutz, my left leg needs work form what amounts to a surgeon, my doc says go to a wound care centre. i call and set up appt. first i tell them, " im of low income ( 70% goes to medical doc. rest is food/gas.) they say well the first visit is 1700 i have to pay 500 plus doc. , i asked the nice lady " Ummm ma'am what part of low income does this fit into? shes like well...... ( nothing) hten i say " so im sposed to wait for the thing to turn gangrenous and about fall off? been to 4 ER's already, they slap me twice. wiht a 1k bill and a bandaid and tell me to go to a wound care centre. im like "shaZam! i could have done that myself. ( am awaiting disability case ( in attorneys hands now) ) . hell even one doctor i overheard saying " looking for drugs" ( i recorded this) and he came into exam room, i said ( while replaying it, sir, i do disagree wiht you. if i were looking for drugs its a FAR cheaper proposition to get them off the street. vs an ER. my primary care doc, and nurse freakout. are hte only ones that seem concerned ( beside myself). i see them again thurs. will figure out what next. anyhoo alot of this is typical long term diabetic complications. dont feel sorry for me. i could have done better for myself i admit. i just wanted to touch bases with yall and let you know why ive not been around much. and wont be for near future. net acccess is scarce. take care ride safe and enjoy life

Well, damn it. News like that just isn't right. Okay, first off you have a positive attitude (as can be considered) which will get you through anything. Secondly, your a cool dude and good things come to good people. Hang in there! We'll be thinking of ya!

Hey man, sorry to hear about everything. Best of luck with it! I know how you feel about the hospitals. I went to the hospital once after one of my limbs randomly swelled up and became unusable. I assumed spider bite but I had no idea. After not being able to walk for almost an entire week, just laying on the livingroom floor and not even being able to shower I went to the emergency room and you could tell all the doctors thought was that I was there because of drugs. It would've been so much easier for them to take a thing of blood and test it rather than send every doctor in the place over to try and get me to admit what kind of drug I shot into my leg. I'm sure they see it all the time, but as a kid who's never touched a drug in my entire life, the last time I want to be harrassed about drug abuse is when I'm laying out in the emergency room feeling like my foot is about to fall off.
Hope things get better for you. You'll make it through it!
Yama, it's time to pull a duck move.
You need to walk in there with a business card from the sharkiest lawyer you can find and remind the first doctor you see that they don't actually need to treat you to be the subject of a malpractice suit.

that's just evil, i like it
Aaron,
I don't know you but I am familiar with your situation. The job I do has to do with the care of patients needing vascular procedures to restore blood flow to the limbs and heart. One of the first signs leading them to me is a non healing wound or pain when walking etc. I assume you are going through this based on the "wound care center" comments from the medical staff. I am not sure where you are in your treatment but it may be possible to restore blood to your leg without a "surgical" procedure. It sounds like what you describe are either a fem-pop bypass or aorto-femoral bypass. Sometimes this can be done with stenting as opposed to an open surgery. Although it is not cheap it would be less than surgery. The one drawback or reason this may not be an option to you would be the contrast used is harmful to the kidneys. If you are close to needing dialysis for kidney failure they don't want to tip you over the edge. I don't know anything about what your lab values are or I could possibly tell you if that is what they are shying away from.
There is a device that can be used to close chronic non healing wounds and it is called a wound VAC (vacuum assisted closure) This device is not inexpensive either unfortunately but it uses negative pressure to pull blood into the wound bed and it mechanically pulls the wound edges closer together to speed healing. It will be more difficult to heal if your sugars are out of whack so now more than ever try to be compliant with your diet and insulin if you are on it. If you smoke...the less the better. Quitting would be best due to the constriction of vessels with nicotine use. On the financial side try to contact the social worker or case manager of one of the hospitals and let them know what is going on and ask if they can help. There are many programs in place intended to help people in your situation. Sometimes churches have been known to donate for these type things. I am not sure how often but it has happened. I know I have seen people selling baked goods and doing car washes to raise money. I am not sure what type of resources you have but these are some ideas. Even though I don't know you I wish you the very best in this and I hope this post is not too intrusive into your personal business. Let me know if I can help you in some way.
Many blessings
Scott
hospitals are getting bad and will get worse soon to come once everyone gets free medical, When I broke my leg in feb I was taken to the closest hospital by the accident scene and was put in a corner of the room and hour lader i got my first shot of morphine and knocked out for some time than was awaken by a rude ass doctoer who spoke a broken english asking me to move onto another bed so the ambulance can have their stretcher back i told him i have no support below my knee and my leg was just flopping around and the bones woould rub each other so he moved me thaan sent me to Xray where they kept moving the upper half of my leg to get a good shot but didnt pic my heel up so again pain and i threw up on their stuff haha to them sent me back to my corner gave me more drugs i fell aasleep woke up with my leg in a sling and they sent me home with pain drugs. was that it that was my first broken anything and thought they fixed it and when tryed to get in the car and sit but loads of pain. and this was not a county hospital but a smaller memorial place I got fixed at a county hospital and they took better care of me and have some HOT Asian nurses caring for me after surgery. So I know how you feel getting the runaround it sucks and for me got really confusing and annoying, waiting 4 hours for a 5min check up than another hour for my next appointment date.
LMAO ohgood i did LOL on that. thank you . BTW as one mentioned it will get worse with free medical. BUT there is no such thing as free medical. we pay for it in some way shape or form. about as taxing as obamas policies lmao but do appreciate the prayers and well wishes  and michael a papercut on the pee pee? jeebus get that looked at m8
I go in friday the 24th for my first "procedure" on my left leg. but was aboue to get it from 1700 per visit, to 20 :D now just gotta find the 20 per week , then after that, if theyll allow it, and if i can do it, have to work heh that WILL suck. go in @ 945am , be goin all day untill 11pm then BED
What channel did you go through to get that kind of reduction. I am glad for you. Best of luck on your procedure.
Scott
Only 9:45? I go 7:30 to 11, all-nighters maybe once/twice a week to learn how to fix you. Then, people complain when I have no social skills, but whatever...
Check out autonomic diabetic neuropathy.
Saw a cheap vacuum set-up once for third-world folks.
Hope all goes well. Will send a prayer for healing.
Been going in since teh 24th, went teh following monday, again this wed ( tomorrow) and get knifed on) i declined anesthesia. when they said it wouldnt hurt any worse than say a bee sting or a tattoo. they were right. i go in, get worked on, then work. but wed is my day off. :icon_confused: anyhoo all is going well. take care, and ride safe. hope to be back at some point soon on a regular basis
