Title: LED indicator issues
Post by: ameen on September 14, 2010, 09:35:57 AM
Last night i recived my order from superbrightleds an installed replaced my dash indicators with LEDs.  the process was simple, pull out the oldones nan put in the new.

I am very satified with the brightness on all the lights except the trun signal indicator. For some reason it is extreamly dim.  I know it is not the bulb as I has teh same results with the other LEDS when put into same slot.  The LED is non polar and it made no differnece what orientation it was installed in.  I ended up putting the stock light back in for the turn signals.

Another issuse is when the blinkers are on, it puts out the nutral light and dims the headlights. It did this before i just never really though about it. Are these things normal or should i start looking around for a short?

Thanks

What did you do about the turn signal relay? Hopefully you didnt use inline resistors.....

As far as the indicator bulb, led's can actually be dim behind colored plastic lenses. Even the brightest led bulb will still draw less current than a factory bulb though.

I didnt add any resistors.  The indicator i changed was the green light on the dash, i didnt think i would have to add a resistor.  The LED is the same i use for the nutral light and it shows nice and bright
