I just love having that 2" of water in my boots after I get home.  Really riding in rain/water isn't as bad as you think.  just all of those cagers.

edited to add.

OOhhh calc III   what are you guys doing?  partials,  Triple integrals?   That was fun!!

Frog Toggs.  Cheap, light, can actually be folded & fit under your seat.  XLNT emergency rain gear.

I use my bike to get to work every day, so I get to ride in lots of rain. It's kinda fun, if you're dressed for it that is. If not it can be miserable. I like how everybody looks at you like you're nuts.

After it's been raining a while the roads aren't too bad. I find when it first starts raining though things can be pretty dodgy. If you're going out and it's just started raining be VERY careful!  :o   You're probably better off waiting a bit to let that layer of crap wash away first.   :)

Best thing about riding in the rain...you get to ride alot more than you would if you never did.   :thumb:

Yeah, JohnNS brings up some good points. The first half hour or so of a spot of rain is the most slippery. You're best off just pulling over, grabbing a cup of coffee, and waiting for a bit. Otherwise, keep an even wider safety margin between yourself and everyone else, careful not to lock up your brakes, and decrease your lean angle in the turns.

And yes, the best part about riding in torrential conditions is really the dumbfounded looks you get from cagers.

If I didn't ride in the rain, I'd only get to ride like two months out of every year.  it's not to bad.  just as long as it's not freezing cold and raining.  one or the other is fine, but both really sucks.

Be careful those first few rains.  Since it doesn't rain at all for ~ 6 months here in california a lot of slippery gunk (oil, antifreeze, etc) accumulates down in the pavement and gets floated up by those first few rains.  Plastic turn arrows and lettering on the pavement are particularly vicious, but also watch out for steel plates, painted surfaces, tool booths, and well traveled stoplights.  Once you get over that slick period, you really get pretty darn good traction with good tires.  When it really pours, check your brakes, they can be a little dicey until the water burns off the rotor and the pad really digs in.

Yea, riding in the rain is a blast.  All you need is a good coat and a hot bath afterwards.  But cars don't understand our special needs.  Yesterday I was approaching a stoplight and this car cut in front of me and immediatly hit the brakes.  At that moment my stopping distance was cut by 20 feet or so.  I jam on the brakes and lock up the rear :o .  If that ever happens to you never, ever unlock it 'till your stopped.   Well I stopped about 2-3inches from their rear.  I do believe that had I not locked up they would have a 17inch up their tailpipe.  Just keep your head up and you'll stay safe :thumb: .

First time I drove in the rain, it ws FREEZING RAIN!!

I actually had thoughts of dying on the side of the road between towns, but fortunately, I made it to the next Tim Hortons and sat there for about 90 minutes using their tables as a clothes line and drinking hot chocolate.

NOT FUN!!!

My MSF class was rain-soaked half the time, and I was shocked at how well the tires gripped despite the rain.  That probably helped make me comfortable with rain; I think the first month I rode, when it would rain, I actually felt more confident because it reminded me of MSF class.

But lately it's been 43 degrees and raining, yechh. That's been tough: you have to open your face-shield at every stop light, or it fogs-over with one breath; but you have to close it before you move, or you get a face-full of Mother Nature.  The biggest problem I have is trying to keep my visor clear riding at night (well, 5:30pm rush-hour is dark-as-night now).  I'm thinking of wiping it down with light oil to see if that helps shed the water (think "cheap Rain-X").

-Still riding, in Minnesota

its seems to wait till its time for me to go to work  then rains. it lays there waiting for me, till i start the bike and head down the road about 4 mins, then rains. then the traffic backs up cuz NO ONE seems to know how to drive in rain, then accidents happen and traffic jams up tighter, meanwhile, my boots need a bilge pump
