Title: Found my new toy for next season...
Post by: madjak30 on September 23, 2010, 10:11:40 PM
I couldn't decide between a sport tourer or a cruiser...I even was thinking V-Strom was a good compromise, but I have found something better...Yamaha MT-01...

No more wanting to upgrade...comfort, power, and that cruiser sound...what could be better...

Have to go put down my deposit...

Very nice bike! Have you also seen the Vmax models by Yamaha?

Its funny that it's got a passenger seat, but the exhaust comes all the way up PAST the top of the seat.

I loooove the MT-01. I would love to have one if it wasn't 1700cc, and if the exhuast didn't look so goofy. I haven't seen many aftermarket exhausts for them to know how fixable that is. I would think some shorter carbon pipes would blend in well. Definitely a great looking bike though. I always wished they'd make a 900cc version of it. They did make the smaller MT-03, but it's not the same thing at all.

Yeah, but the V-Max is a no-go for my insurance company...I don't want the speed, but I will like the torque.  No more slowing down going into the wind for me... :icon_twisted:

Naa, the cans look huge because of the heat shields...might be warm, but no scorching...who wants passengers anyway...

I was looking at the Suzuki M90 (1500cc) anyway, so what is a couple hundred cc more??   :thumb:

The only drawback is the 15L tank...so only about 200-250kms on a fill, but that should be okay...I'm not a speed demon anyway, so I should be able to get pretty good mileage with it...I want the torque to be able to keep my fat ass moving up a hill or in the wind...and the noise it makes... :icon_twisted: :thumb: :icon_twisted:

Nope...gray market import, but was never imported...the joys of being Canadian...it didn't really catch on here either, but the local dealer has two...one 2006 MT-01 new, still offering warranty $9750...the other is 2006 MT-01 used, with just over 14,000 kms (8750 miles) $7300...I'm looking at the used one...the price just can't be beat...although the new one is pretty good priced too, being the MSRP was $16,099...

You can get the Yamaha Warrior in the States, that's what the motor is out of...it's a nice bike too...and much more popular...but hold their value more...

Not my cup of tea for actual riding but fascinating. That motor is beautiful.

My next bike is a gassed up and ready to go v-strom 650, out in the garage right now, tank bag loaded. As soon as I finish this coffee I am on it.

I am keeping the GS for a year at least though.

Gonna wait until the New Year...make sure the truck makes it through the winter without a major breakdown...and the Christmas expenses...

I should still get a pretty good deal in Feb or March...
