Title: Rode the most powerful bike I have ridden; so far!

My buddy let me take his ZX10r on a countryside 'thrash'. Needless to say he passed me on my own bike within half a mile and I didn't see him again.

The sports bike is so alien. The really uncomfortable riding position, the super fat sticky tyres that make roundabouts a bit too tricky and slow speeds, then there is the power delivery. It did seem to have loads of low end grunt, but not for junctions, and as you climbed up the rev counter it seemed quite stepped. I think 7k was the first major kick of power and I sensed a second on approach as I lifted further up the rev range....

It was lazy fast, completely effortless like a potent V8. It was good to experience, but hasn't left me wanting more. A halfway house would be nice though, say an FZ1 or similar.

That's all.  :thumb:

P.S Said bike is a MY06 with power commander, full decat system and ram air filters. Rolling roaded at 190 crank HP with more on the road with the ram air.

I'd definitely like to ride one for the experience, but have no desire to own something like that. I know I'd get used to it, and it'll only go as fast as you twist the throttle, but the idea of having a bike that'll lift the wheel when I go full throttle in 3rd gear just scares me. If I was going to get a 1000cc sportbike, I'd feel a lot more comfortable on something like a 98-2000 R1, 140-150hp sounds a lot more manageable. If I remember right, a gsxr750 makes about 130-140, and that sounds like a good mix for a street bike. Even an RC51 would be fun, I think those bikes were only pushing 130hp, but had the low end from being a twin.

Now at the same time, that 04 zx10 was a pretty impressive bike. Can't even imagine what it would be like to ride a bike that goes 115mph in 1st gear.

Yup same here. Good old Nissan Sentra! Ive ridden a gixxer 1000. Fun, yes. Do i want one, no. I want a bigger bike in the future with more power but by no means do i want a 1000cc race bike. I know exactly how you feel.

My new bike is an 06 zx6r 636, has yoshimura rs-5 slip-on, K&N filter, and juice box and makes 112whp on a conservative 92 octane tune. It weighs 430#ish wet and will power wheelie until at least 110mph, ive done it and almost crapped my pants. It pulles harder at 150mph than my heavily modified gs500f did at any speed.

Love the 636s. Still hoping to get my hands on one next fall, but I'm more fond of the 03-04 version. The 05-06 is growing on me though. It'll all depend what I find a good deal on when the time comes though.
