Title: Buying Haynes repair manual
Post by: AG5656 on October 07, 2010, 01:30:23 PM
I have 2008 GS500F and want to learn how to take it a part and all the ins and outs, etc.  So, I want to buy best repair manual for cheap. I see you guys reference Clymers a lot but I only see volumes available for Suzuki models through 2002.  The only option I see is from the company Haynes for $29.  The title is "Suzuki GS500, GS500E, GS500F Twin Repair Manual 1989-2008".  Do you think this is a good option?

The seller is here:

Thanks

Hi,I`ve got the Haynes and think its good enough although haven`t read a clymer for this bike.Think it`s pretty handy for a newbie as it tells you how to use diff` tools and plenty of tips.

I think* the clymer is better. I have an older pdf version of haynes, and dont really care for it. Saw a friends clymer and it *appeared to have more detail, maybe its just more wordy.

besides the oil cooler, fairings, and electronic tach, all the gs500s are the same as far as the detail in the haynes is concerned.

defineently get one of the 2 though

I had a Clymer for my CBR, and a Haynes for my GS. I must say I found the haynes much more useful. I also always use Haynes for my cars too.

I've got both, but I prefer the Haynes. Some things are different on the later models, so getting one that covers your year is good, but most things haven't changed much over the years.

Go to

www.carlsalter.com

You can download the GS500E factory shop manual.

It took a couple of tries to get a complete download...........one version is in Spanish.........

This manual goes up to '99 model, but should be useful for the later models too........
