To start this off my bike seems to run fine, it starts up but it does take awhile to run without choke. While riding it i dont notice anything relaly wrong with it (but then again i have nothing to compare with).
Here is my problem. When i rev the engine (out of gear) it the revs take a couple seconds to fall from 4000-idle. Also when I give it a small amount of throttle, i cannot get the RPMs to stay anywhere between 2000-4000/5000K. Once the engine hits about 2K, it revs up to 4K on its own without any additional input. Does this mean it is lean?
I rejetted with a size 20 pilot jet and the air screw is out 3.5 turns (2001 - 3 stage carbs). I tested for air leaks with starter fluid but could not find any (doesn't mean they are not there though). I also shimmed the needle and increased the main jet (Buddha's jet kit)
Any advice?
Thanks,
Ameen
I checked my plugs yesterday. I put them in about 200 miles ago. How long should it take to get some color on them? They still look almost new with the excetion of a little brown/tan on one side of each plug.
Anyone?
anybody?

Brown is good. Choclate is even better, 200 miles, plugs will color burn in 5 seconds, but new plugs clean themselves more efficiently. I'd say your'e fine, but give it a 1/2 turn on mix screws.
BTW make sure you ahve no air leaks and your air filter is good and clean.
Cool.
Buddha.
what is odd is that there is brown only on one side (or is that normal)
hey you may want to check my thread.
I have pictures of my plugs there, they are also brown on one side.
I solved the problem, but if you read through you may find good ideas on what to check.
here is the thread: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=54108.0
MY SOLUTION: the cap (the one you take off to balance carburetors) was broken, therefore causing air leak in that place. I replaced it and everything is back to normal.
Good luck
EDIT: what's your setup? air filter, jets, exhaust. it's very important to help us determine lean/rich condition.
TIP: if you think your mixture is lean try covering a part of air filter, the mixture will become leaner on air (richer on fuel). If bike runs better you're lean, if bike runs worse you're rich.
