Buddha I used to race VW's and build the motors myself. I have owned and thrown away a pair of Kadrons. Back fired and caught the wiring harness on fire. The are junk well at least they used to be. I have had much better luck with the Weber ICT 34mm set up.
The Dellorto's were on a 1904cc Motor with a 74mm Crank x 90.5 pistons and an Engle 126 cam. Ran like a scolded ape! 136HP on the Dyno and 14.6 elapse time at Sacramento Raceway. I grew up in Auburn, Ca and in the 80's Vallero's moved to my town and I dealt with them and Gene Berg. They used to be big competitors on the race track especially at the Sacramento Bugorama
Biggest thing with the Dellorto's was at a certain speed they would whistle (drove me crazy!) the fix was an after market gasket that filled in the hole that was causing it in the intake velocity stack.
Anyway I will have to post some pics. I am out of the VW business all I have left is the carbs!
Solex kadrons make good street carbs, I wont run em on anything larger than my 1835, the damn thing was in my baja, a car that would climb a 30 degree slope in the wet dirt and get to the point of damn near jumping off by the time it got to the top.
I dunno about catching fire though. I'll watch for that and carry a fire extinguisher ...
These buggers make torque. They work just fine for street and highway, I never will race the thing, its a convt. I need low and slow baby.
Anyway how much you want for webers. Are they jetted for an 1835 stroker ? Or you suggest a starting point ? I actually also have a nice stock carb. I may run it ... I like street carbs.

I don't have the Webers anymore and they were set up for the 1776cc I had in my street daily driver that I sold.
The Dellorto's I have were set up for the 1904cc which had .041 heads and the other parts I all ready mentioned.
I did however use them for a awhile on a 1641cc motor I built for fun out of spare parts and they ran just fine. Gas mileage suffered but it's too much to resist passing people in a Bug going up Donner Pass on I-80 going skiing :thumb:

Of course the damn convt has no pan to speak of, its mostly rusted away ... possibly heater channel needs work too ... why dont you come over and fix the thing for me.

I am into the air cooled vw but sadly I am a bigger fan of a reliable car and am a convt nut, if it aint a convt I dont want it. That sorta thing.

I had a VW bus and got sick of rebuilding the 1600 twin port POS, so I put an 1800cc EA81 Subaru in it. Pulled harder using less fuel and very reliable. Guy over here makes adapter plates for all kinds of swaps, including Range Rover alloy V8. The radiator is the thing, most guys put them up front and use exhaust tube to move the water, on mine I put the radiator in the back, behind the motor. It was on a frame that hinged to the side to allow access. Lot of guys into homebuilt aircraft use the subies, very reliable.

I have better pics but I need to scan them. In both of these pics the motor had a standard offset fan shrowd. I put a 36HP Dog House that had the offset for the oil cooler. This made it much easier to work on the Dell's

I know seriuosly I can't believe how heavy they are even after I took off of the muffler bearings and the choke knot!
If you are going to do a Subura adaptation why would you want the Dells? They are yours if you want them. I think I can break them down and fit them in medium US Postage. We'll discuss price on PM. Let me see if they fit first.

Yea I would like em webers ... I am not quite sure about subie ... I wont do it as long as I have a living 1835 though, and I will maintain it like a maniac, so essentially I will altogether probably never do a subie ... maybe get a sedan and stuff a subie in it. Or a thing ... or a ghia ... dammit so many choices.

Is your case tapped? Kind of have to do that while building. Unless you are using a universal case.
Yes its tapped, I have to get into tha tcar abit again, I have too many htings I have forgotten. Back in 97-98 I used to be better @ the VW stuff than I was @ the GS stuff. I also used to live in sacramento then. By pocket and greenhaven. Anyway I forgot about the VW and did more GS and became buddha.
