Hello guys, first of all I've been in the shadows lerking for a few months, finally time for me to come out and say hello. I bought a 95 gs a couple months ago for $600, had a few minor issues but all were solved through the help of the how to pages and searching.
I really like my gs except for one little thing, the headlight. I just don't like how it looks. Although I don't want to turn my bike into an all out customized streetfighter, I do like the streetfighter style headlights (even though they'll probably produce less light.) There are hundreds to be had on ebay for less than $75 or even less than $50 but I have no idea which if any would fit. The problem I am anticipating is finding one that fits over the stock gauges that stick out a little ways. Also I would like some with signals built in.
Has anybody had any luck with ebay street fighter kits in the past? I have been searching all over the forum but all the links I find are dead.
I've found this one, it has 2 35w bulbs (most others were 25w) and has signals built in but don't know if it would fit. This ones not the prettiest but it looks like it may fit and has the biggest reflection area I've seen. I'm at work and can't get on ebay to see which ones you're posting, but I've seen enough ebay headlights to assume which ones you're looking at. They definitely won't produce much light. You'll do best if you find one that's actually DOT certified, but it'll still be at the very minimum amount of light you can get. Most of those headlights are made for kids with stuntbikes that they want to keep street legal. I think they all pretty much mount with rubber straps around the fork tubes, so you should be able to get any of them to fit your bike.
If you're looking for a new light, I'd recommend just browsing ebay for headlights from other bikes. Sometimes lights you wouldn't think anything of on one bike look pretty cool when you put it on a bike it wasn't meant for. I've seen people take the built in lights from fully faired sportbikes like gsxr headlights, or just naked bikes with different designed headlights. I hear a lot of people talking about V-rod headlights and things like that.
If you just want something based on looks, go for it. If you actually want light output and something that's not made of flimsy plastic I'd keep looking around.

So it should light the road properly. Not bad for $25.00 bucks

Question I had though is since its 2 55w bulb instead off the normal single bulb will it have any ill effects on wiring or charging system or anything?

Problem with this is it has 25w bulbs. Would there be anyway to use a higher wattage bulb?
The GS gauges are pretty huge, I'm not sure what would fit over them. You might have to modify whatever you get. If you can make it work, and want something simple looking, I'd say try to find a used DRZ headlight or something like that. Dual sports have headlights that look like all of those, but they actually put out some light.

I went with using the headlight from a faired bike when I did the naked conversion with my '04 GS500F. I was holding out for a set of Buell lights from a Ulysses/Lightning, but I couldn't find any for a good price, and instead, ran with the stock headlight from the F model. Other members here have done it too, and it looks decent IMO. DOT certified unit too.

Im in the process of converting my baby into a nakied boi. Just wanna know if you can give me some detailed pics on that front headlight. Im probably going to use the same headlight. And maybe the how to make it work.
It's nothing special, just the stock headlight from the fully faired model. All I did was cut of all of the tabs except the two big ones on the side, which I just trimmed and drilled holes through. I ordered the Drag Specialties side-mount headlight brackets from Dennis Kirk and bent them to fit the wider headlight. All you got to do is bolt it up; since it's the stock unit, there's no hackjob wiring going on, just plug and play.

That's exactly what I want for my GS. That stock headlight looks great and you say the only thing you did was just change out the bracket? Also you were saying that you used some tabs to mount onto the bracket, correct? I am just trying to be sure before I start to mod mine and take things apart that I will be able to get things back together properly. I might just purchase an extra headlight and make sure that if I mess up I won't have to wait to ride.
When it's mounted in the fairing, it has a bunch of plastic tabs to attach it; no real bracket to speak of that I can remember at the moment. I posted a link to the part that I used to mount it after I cut/trimmed the tabs. Take your headlight out of the fairing, and you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. This mod takes all of about an hour if you go slow, and isn't very difficult at all.

What you guys can say about this thing? Does anyone have headlight like this, or have seen mounted it on bike?
Im curious does it fit the Europe standards, or its made to states where traffic going in left side of road..
I doubt it meets any standards, European or DOT. It uses two 25W bulbs, so your light output is sub par, and that same light has been discussed in this thread already (check the links). My advice, for safety and performance is to get something off another bike that is already certified.

If i will change bulbs from 25w to normal 55w?
This deal tempting me due the low price, and for me its looks not so bad like the stock round headlight.
I imagine that heat may be an issue.

Not a real big issue I guess but a few here have mounted their headlights clamped tight to the fork tubes with brackets like you linked so I thought I'd mention it. Expect much shorter headlight bulb life without rubber cushions between the headlight bulbs and the fork tubes. After my CB750 Honda had many miles the rubber cushions dried out and loosened up and I decided to shim it to tighten it up a bit, not as rigid as those brackets that clamp right on the forks but still too tight. The life of the H-4 bulbs went down from 30k miles or so to less than 10k miles so I removed the shims and left it loose and didn't change another bulb after that, put about 80k miles on that bike. The rubber bushings, part 5, are there for a reason:

Dominators are the only decent looking aftermarket headlight, in my opinion. Mine were just some 'fog lights' from AutoZone, they worked just as well if not a little better than the stock single. Not quite as nice as the dominators, but if I recall correctly the Doms can take an HID kit.

I take that back..... Im assuming they go into one the 2 other holes on those brackets...
The Acerbis fairing and all it's copies are pure crap. You'd do better by taping a cheap 6 led flashlight to the handlebars.

I actually don't have front stalks anymore, because I got my mirrors wired up.
