Title: Hit a deer last Thursday
Post by: viggen on November 01, 2010, 07:22:58 PM
Was cruising on the highway and had a sudden thought that there might be deer around.  Slowed it down a bit, came around the corner, and saw the B($#^$%.  Hauled her down to 30mph as he was crossing, was looking for his friends to come along.  No other deer came.  But the first deer doubled back and hit me in the front wheel from the left.  I went down and slid a bit.

I have some rash on my hip where my pants and jacket separated, and some bruises, but I'm otherwise ok.

The bike needs some help though.  Needs at least a left mirror, front brake lever (not sure how that broke as the bike landed on the left side..), and handlebars.  Plastics are beat up but attached.

The deer got away.

Side note, if anyone has any of those parts for sale, I'm interested :)

I would guess the deer broke your lever.

You know that has to my biggest fear as a rider..DEER! One of my friends hit one when I was growing up and of course he did not have the proper gear on and just about ground his elbows and fore arms off. And yes deer commonly double back so expect it! They freak with the noise, light and whatever.

Glad you're OK and had the proper gear on! Sorry about your baby though.
