Title: GS500 bogging out and losing power after 7K Please help!
Post by: benripper1289 on November 08, 2010, 12:14:30 PM
Hello guys,

I recently re-jetted (132.5/60/17.5 and 2 washers) and drop in filter. The bike runs absolutely beautifully and pulls hard under 7K revs and then beyond that it gets a little rough and does performance does not show for that high of revs. Ive tried many different settings on the screw adjustments on the outside of the carb and nothing seems to affect it. Any help is GREATLY appreciated.  Thanks so much, Ben

Most likely, you need different main jets. Or you are starving for fuel. OR.....your timing and / or coils is bad.

The screws on the outside of your carbs are the mixture screws and the idle speed. The mixture screws are used mostly at idle - barely affects higher rpm.

Yeah man i have the same problem, mines running lean cause I haven't had time to sort new jets after i did my filter and exhaust.

I'd say yours must be a little lean too
