hi have a 2009 gs500f with only 3000km on it and it allready has a leak from the gear shifter.is this a comen problem and will it be coverd under warrenty.Cheers :thumb:
What kind of leak? Where exactly is it leaking from? Did you ride in the rain, or through a puddle? The clutch cover gathers all sorts of junk, and there's a drain hole there.
might also be stuff from the chain, I got some chain lube all over everywhere after I serviced my chain.
will get home and give good clean underneath.give it a couple of days and see if it comes back.thanx all :thumb:
You're talking about the gear lever you operate with your foot, right?
Most common and thus most probable... Chain Lube is leaking down to that spot from the front sprocket area. You'd be surprised what you find there. I don't think you've go anything to worry about.

Same problem here when it had 2-3K km. (it leaked for many days, even after cleaning the chain)
Nothing to worry about, although i paid 3E for the sealing rubber. :D
Perhaps this old thread will help? :dunno_black:

my 89 doesn't have a leaky shifter busing, it has an automatic sidestand hinge lubricator
