Title: GS Parts Wanted
Post by: whttnbrg on November 12, 2010, 10:25:24 PM
I recently purchased a 1995 GS500E. I had a 92 when I was in the Army that had a chin spoiler and the windshield cowling. I am looking for these in Teal if anyone has them or knows where to find them. I will take them in any color, as I can get them painted if I have to. I want to get this bike to look like my old one. Thanks for the help guys

I have a few extras that I won't be using. You can see the ebay auctions and make me an offer. I bought lots of extras not knowing how I wanted to restore Junior (you can see pictures of Junior throughout the board and on the wall of fame). All of these would have to be painted to match your bike (colorrite.com has factory colors). If you have clip-on handle bars, come headlight cowlings might need some slight modification.

Currently there are no original factory headlight cowlings or belly pans on ebay. There was one headlight cowel and 2 belly pans but I got both because no one else bid on them and they are now on Junior. One belly pan will be left plain black (no stripes) or painted red to match the bike. The black one with stripes is on junior right now. I have the Gimbel seats (which I love) but they are not for sale.

You can see the price I paid. Just make a reasonable offer since I have no plan to use them. Free UPS shipping to 48 states. Elsewhere charged what I'm charged for post office (due to no customs fees to other countries or APO and FPO addresses).

I'm also loaded with lots of bolts, rotors, wheels, factory clip on style bars (sold in Europe, you'll see them on my bikes) and other  misc. stuff if you need it. Ask if there is something else you need. I might have it.

Look through the wall of fame and show me a bike you're trying to make. I have a "tail farm" with a couple dozen sets of tails and might have the color or close to it that you want. I also have the ability to to a pretty good repair and restore job on scratched or damaged tail sections. I even have a few original tail logos so it might be possible to make a new tail from a fugley one to match a good one from the other side. Lots if tail centers, too. I do coat all tails with a 2k urethane clear coat to make them look nearly brand new and fix any missing/broken-off tabs. (Look up pictures of Junior - he's a 1992 model just restored except for painting the Gimbel seat, which is curing in the oven right now)

The bike I used to have looked just like yours, except it was blue and white. I definatly want a chin scoop. I may have to wait a bit for the cowling.

If you need a tail section, I might have what you need. I wasn't sure what color I wanted Junior to be (finding the red tank settled that issue: red and black) so I collected tail sections for a while. Show me a photo from the "Wall of Fame" if you're looking for a certain tail. Tail center piece might have to be painted to match. When you decide on a belly pan (aka bug spoiler in Europe) let me know.

There was no picture, but that's OK.
Just trying to help with available parts you might need.

Not sure how you're doing your links. That link is a bike uploaded somewhere back in 2007.
Did see your bike in the "recently uploaded" section
Your bike shows at

and

Nice looking.

Factory belly pan and cowlings are hard to find. When they do show up, new ones are $250-$350. Haven't seen used ones except there is a bike for sale in Seattle with both and the whole bike is only $1200-obo. Since you're not interested in them, I'll find some way to dispose of my extra belly pans and headlight cowlings as I need space in the garage for the bikes during our rainy season.

If your getting rid of any black belly pans, send one over to aust.
Not sure what shipping would be worth but i'd be keen..

Actually I am interested in a belly pan! I am actually trying to figure out some way to use it without painting it. Kinda like you did. I just dont have the money right now for a windshield cowling as much as I would like. If you have any side covers that are black with teal accents, that may be my solution. I have contacted colorite though and they do have my paint :)

I'll check the rest of the tails that are not hanging up. My teal cowling got painted novelty black 2 weeks ago so I can change my bike from red to black on a whim. If I only knew sooner....

What is your color code from Colorrite? I can check for a match. While it is easy enough to sand and paint a tail, getting the logos and/or detail taping for them is really hard or expensive (if you can find them)

Looks like your bike has been painted as there are no logos on the tail?

Anything will have to be painted as most are either primed or have mold marks that need sanding. Black pan can go with just about about color scheme (and is an easy, safe color to paint) since your engine is black. Detail striping is easy to do.

Colorite code is 4500. I was looking at the one pan that you paid $100 bucks for.

Their SKU 4500 - ok, Suzuki code 1ZV which is the code I found in the WIKI. I'll check tonight for tail pieces of that color.

SUZUKI GS500 GS 500 MBD BUGSPOILER GM51B WVBK
Mounts one screw each side front of frame. One screw under back part. Nice quality.

Is the picture in that ebay ad what you're bike looked like? Seems similar teal color.

Like I said, make me an offer. make an offer for pan and cowling. Like I said, I don't need them. $1 would be insulting but not expecting full price. Just be fair and reasonable.
(I see you updated your location on your profile. Keep in mind that a belly pan can not be used as a flotation device  :nono: )

Actually my first one was a darker blue, I cant remember the actual color name, but you have a side cover in your hanging picture that was close. I could give you $100 to $125 right now, but I dont think that would be fair to you considering what you paid. I am really on a budget right now especially with the holidays approaching, and what ever I spend on the bike will be my "Christmas Present" I can break up some payments for you also if you can. I feel the parts are easily worth what you have in them to me..... Just dont have the fundage all at once. I had to sell my boat to buy the bike when it came available. Economically we are worse off than everyone down here. Still putting things back together after Katrina, and then the oil spill. The bike is a big savings in gas for me commuting to work, and hopefully I will never have to see if the scoop will work as a flotation device again.
