I couldn't find an answer with a few searches, but figure somebody here may know. I need to replace the rear plastics on a naked 2009, and can get brand new 2005 model plastics for free, but don't know if they'll fit properly?
So essentially was there any minor subframe/ plastics changes between 2005 and later models?
No they should just swap out and replace. Remember not to lose the rubber grommets that you clip the plastics onto the bike.
Plastics for the "F" series are all the same except for color and detail taping. In addition to the two sides, there is a center tail piece. That is often hard to find. It is not the same center piece as the "E" series.
Plastics for the "E" series are all the same except for color and taping (and are not compatible with the "F" series)
And yes - remember the rubber grommets. There are two bolts, too. Those also require rubber grommets and those have an aluminum or steel tube in them.
If in doubt on what you need, just check any dealer's parts list on-line. Chances are lots of us have grommets and inserts and bolts if you need them.
Tail plastics go on and off easier by removing the rear grab rail while you do it.
They're free. Grab 'em and see if they fit. if they don't you have a spare someone else here might need.

Thanks for the replies. I picked up the plastics yesterday and tried fitting them but no luck getting everything in the right spot. :dunno_black: gonna have a good play around with them over the weekend. The mate who have them to me is coming around over the weekend to help, so if there's no luck between us I'll get some pics up as a comparo of the '06 and '09- and pick the brains of those on here
I wonder if they changed the plastics mountings when they added the vent holes to the sides. '07 I think it was?
Just checked parts list: the 06 and 09 have the same part numbers for the rear covers (except for the 3 character suffix for color) so they should fit the same. 2001-2002 which has the newer tank, seat and tail has different part numbers.
