Title: How to remove the front brake disc
Post by: bombjack on December 10, 2010, 12:01:47 PM
My front disc is worn and needs replacement.
I thougt it would be pretty easy to just remove the five bolts that holds the disc and then replace it. However, no matter how much force I use I can't get any of the bolts loose.
What's the best way to loosen the bolts?

Thanks in advance...

They are in with loctite, use a real wrench, not the allen keys. The right tool is a allen socket with 3/8th drive and a breaker bar with extra long handle. Cool.

Thanks. Got them out now. I don't have an allen socket so I used a steel tube to extend the allen key handle and that did the trick.  :thumb:

Oh good, you got lucky, it usually does the trick of bending the allen key or busting the tip in the head or mangling the end into a smooth round peg shape or the bolt head into a nice round hole.

In fact the guy that bought my bike and left bad feedback for me asked me to remove the B4 wheel it had on the back after I took it 250 miles to atlanta cos he wanted to save 100 bucks on the B4 wheel. I try to take it off with a proper allen socket and a proper long breaker bar and the tip snaps off in the damn bolt head, flush with the bolt head.

That taught me a very important lesson ... dont pander to fools and try to do what they say.

Cool.
