Everytime I try to write a lengthy post the write in area just keeps bouncing back to a certain spot. So, I have to type blindly. It was so bad tonight somehow paragraphs got out of order and it was impossibe to switch them around because it kept bouncing back to some magical spot that the site thinks your post should end. Thank goodness for ctrl-A or I would have been very upset writing out a long and thoughtful post and then either posting it so that it didn't make sense or losing it outright. Ended up putting it on Word then transferring back here.
Annoying is an understatement!
Mary
same here. I just scroll back up with the side scroll bar, but definitely some type of issue.
I use Google Chrome and have no issues like this. Which browser are you using?
Michael
I use FireFox and have never had a problem.
What browser are you using? What operating system (which version of Windows of Apple)
IE8/Win XPSP3
I have had that problem since I signed up and thought it was just a quirk of the site...I know other forums have an expandable window to type your message...
Maybe it's just Internet Explorer that is the problem...but over on the BBM site the guys using FireFox had a problem with the security...sorry, different issue...just wanted to say that it isn't just IE that has problems...
If you want to type in something that you have given some thought to, try doing it in a word processor and copy and paste it once you are done...never tried it, but it might make it easier for you...
Later.
I haven't personally experienced the issue in question. Mary, are you having the issue from a pc/laptop or using a phone? Just wondering.
I've seen it lots on different versions of ie. never on chrome or webkit ( android) which I'm using now.
Happens to me, too.
I use Firefox and haven't had a problem. I've learned from other experiences of losing posts/documents to type anything long in a Word document or e-mail and save often. Then when I'm finished editing, I copy and paste it to post. It's saved me quite a bit of grief; it's SO frustrating to spend a lot of time on something and then lose it! :technical:
You aren't using a laptop are you? If I am using my touch pad instead of a mouse while I am writing stuff my wrist will accidentally bump the touch pad causing the cursor to go strange places.
I have that darn problem as well. It's not anything touching the pad- it jut won't let you type normally past a certain amount- it will bounce up and down despite trying to move your cursor back to the same spot. :technical: Arrrrgh!
I think it might be something to do with I.E 8. It has occured on several Pcs a netbook. Uhm, thinking well it happened when I tried Safari once too!

Yup, seems to be a problem with IE8. I previously reported it in the Technical Problems thread, and lots of others confirmed they have the same issue.

I didn't want to change browsers just on account of a forum, so now I just post a lot less frequently :dunno_white:
I thought this was going to be about keeping your pecker out of the cold water when you use the restroom....
No but I use chrome as my browser, I do seem to remember some similar issues with IE8 before I made the switch to chrome though.
Well, python I really don't have a pecker to worry about the cold water LOL.
But, it was weird I had surgery on Tuesday on my knee. they marked which knee was the right one yada yada. When I got ready to go home I take off my gown and look down and see a huge marker circle right above my left boobie. WTF were they doing with a marker up there. I asked the nurse and her excuse was because they wanted to remember where my defibrillator was. SUre, I think they were looking somewhere else!

I have same issue. a hindrance, but i have confidence in my typing so typing blindly isnt that big of an issue
I don't think it is that big of a deal...just put the mouse over the window and scroll down every once in a while to check how your typing is going...it's like a learn to type program included with the forum...kinda thoughtful... :icon_mrgreen:
Later.
Mine has done it for quite some time . . . on multiple browsers. Currently using Firefox on Windows Vista, does it all the time. It also does it on my Ipod, which uses Safari I guess? I don't even bother trying on my phone.
A fix would be very nice, because it's the only thing keeping me from doing a rather lengthy paint write-up when my cowl shows.
Oh I'm not saying it's a deal breaker just kinda annoying is all. I'm confident in my typing ability I'm certified at 65wpm with a <5% error rate.
Mary
I don't think I'm anywhere near that level, but my typing has gotten a lot better since taking an office job four years ago...lots of guys in the office are still two finger hunt & peck... :cookoo:...they refuse to learn to type...what ever works for them, I guess...

There's a "This thread is useless without pics" tease in here somewhere.....
As far as the editor being weird, it did it to me once in awhile too... (was using firefox and XPsp3 then too...).
New computer/ Windows 7 now ( dif issues with login now but it works..)
Sorry you guys are not getting pictures of my boobies! Yeah, I'm running windows 7 starter on my netbook and same thing. I dunno just a bit annoying is all!

Ain't happening! LOL. its been a week and I still have "yes" written on my knee. The boobie circle is almost gone LOL.
Mary
brillo pad maybe is in order? (for the knee) :P
I guess I should be lucky they didn't write "yes" on my boobies!
Mary
Maybe "yes" on your boobies would have meant they liked em? :D
Hmmmmm went from internet problems to markers on teh breasteses. i have xp mce on this netbook, may put 7 pro on it soon. not having problems now with eithr one. but hell whatever i do, depends on where im at in a couple weeks time. but hey am having no problems logging into teh twin so i guess i cannot complain
The scrolling problem doesn't bother me that much...but my cd rom/dvd rom player has decided to not recognize discs anymore...pain in the a$$!!...oh well, at least they are pretty cheap to replace...
As for the boobie thing...sorry Mary, were all pigs...yup...no matter how nice we talk or seem, men like to see women...I guess it's a good thing...and we just can't help it... :thumb:
There's just something about women and bikes... :icon_twisted:

Back to the original problem...
Windows has a thing called FONT SIZE. This tells Windows to scale fonts bigger. The problem is that Windows does not always scale everything so you can have a text box designed for standard fonts and when you scale the fonts bigger - the box stays the same size and you can't see everything.
Set Windows to SMALL FONTS and also set the screen resolution at 96 dpi.
Do that and I bet you won't have any problems.
You can always set it back to what you have now. Out of the box, one laptop I had was set to 110 dpi. LOTS of stuff got chopped off even on AOL. Set to 96 dpi and everything looked OK.
