I bought a rear solo cowl for my bike for $120 a little over a month ago, and it was exactly a month ago today that he said he sent it. He has a good rep on the gixxer forums. I paid through paypal. I have yet to see any sign of the cowl. Is it unusual for overseas shipping to take a month, especially with it being the holidays? He has avoided giving me a tracking number any time I have asked for it. He said he sent it 'standard post', which is apparently the cheaper option vs. 'currier' as he explained it to me. Any ideas?
I've bought a lot from Germany and the UK.
Which dealer and what was the item? Was it through ebay or direct from a forum? If not ebay, does that person sell on ebay?
If I've dealt with that person, I'll tell you my experience.
DHL postal can take 6 weeks.
I've bought stuff off ebay from China and sometimes it take about 3.5 weeks. I bet it would be slower with the holidays. But remember that you only have a set ampount of time before you can demand a refund via paypal.
4 weeks doesn't sound horribly odd for me. I've gotten things from asia that took a couple weeks, but they're usually smaller things. I assume a big box would only take longer, especially because the bigger the box, the higher the cost, meaning the cheaper the shipping option he chose. Look at his old feedback and see if anyone else mentioned anything about shipping times. Might make you feel better if you see some more people saying shipping was slow but they still got their stuff.
You could always see exactly how long you have to file it as unreceived in paypal, email him and tell him you haven't gotten it, and you're opening the dispute because it's the last day you can and it's not here. Let him know that you're not doing it out of spite and if the box shows up in the next 30 days that paypal gives to resolve the dispute you'll be happy with close the case and leave positive feedback. That way you won't just seem like you're out for blood, and instead are just covering yourself.
I've had to go through paypal about 3 times now and it always seems to work out. It's a pretty easy process.
It was a private seller, arranged through the gixxer forums. No ebay rep to be checked as far as I know, but there are many that have bought from him and were quite satisfied. He said he would scan the receipt for it just to ease my worry a little, but it's not so much him that I'm worried about. I am more concerned about the shipping itself, especially as much as I've been hearing about security checks on incoming stuff due to terrorism threats. He said he would see what he could do on his end to at least track it out of the country. I'm still not even exactly sure where he is, at first he wanted me to pay in euros, and then he used a symbol for money that I'm not familiar with (maybe that meant pounds). He also mentioned spending some time in holland, not that that means much.
I just really want to get my cowl, paint it, and slap it on. I can't wait :woohoo: :woohoo:
Yeah man I wouldn't stress out about it. If something isn't in my mailbox 2 or 3 days later I start to get paranoid about it, but it always shows up eventually.
Might i ask where it was coming from, and going to? ( not specific addresses, just sa city and country type locales, overseas not uncommon for a month shipping
I am in Atlanta Ga, and he is somewhere in Europe, where the currency is Euros/Pounds.
not uncommon for a month. but yes id consider opening up a paypal dispute before you run out of time. you can always retract it :thumb:
Not sure if it's too late, with it being over six weeks now. Anybody know what the time frame is?
Go to PayPal and read the time limit.
Or just open the dispute - if too late, they will tell you.

Hope it turns out OK - I would not be too concerned, like others have said this can take a while anyway, add in the holiday period and that fact that much of the European postage and carrier systems were paralysed by snow for up to ten days prior to Christmas. A friend of mine, a local Suzuki Owners club member is a partner in a parcel delivery company, he has about 200 trucks and vans, most of which are in the colours of a very familiar internation parcel service. He had one single 40' trailer stuck in Scotland for about ten days. Not only were the parcels inside it delayed but all those that would have been shifted in it for the following week. This has happened in many parts of Europe.

You might want to think about looking into it for comparison. I paid for a LED light from Hong Kong on Dec 18th and it showed up yesterday.
Just to give you an idea.

Eh if we only knew who they were :nono:
The cap is 45 days, so it's too late to file anything now. I'm still confident that it's on the way, I'm waiting on an email from him to confirm the address he sent it to. On the same day he sent the cowl, I ordered a decal from wheelies4kids, and it just showed up today. I really am not that worried about it.
