Getting ready to take a long trip on my 09 GS500F and was wondering if there are any aftermarket comfortable seats aval or what my options are to get a more comfortable seat.
If you can find one of these, you've got what you want. Read the thread as I didn't know the story behind it when I bought it. Very rare. Promised to centuryghost (so not for sale). He tried it out last Saturday and said it is fantastic.

PS: Sorry. Never mind - that's for an "E". Don't know what's around for an"F".
I've seen this thing advertised in Harley mags. Maybe it would suit your purpose.

Looking at the website it looks like it's only for passengers. Might get in the way of shifting or braking (?).
Just noticed thus guy is selling a GS500F with a gel seat insert. maybe ask him about it?

A lot of folks take the cover off of the seat put in their own gel insert and restaple it back on. I've never done it so don't know how hard it could be. Might wanna try Corbin as well. I think if you will send them a seat they can make a specialty one.

Looks like the seller just changes the bike model and lists the same item for a bunch of bikes.

Corbin will make a seat for the new style GS500E/F but someone has to take their bike to their shop and leave it there for a while so they can design and test fit.
Rumor is you get a free seat out the deal, so I'm surprised no one has ever taken them up on it.
You want to go to "greatdaytoride.com" He modifies the stock seat, I know people that have had this done, and a lot of Iron Butt long distance guys swear by it.
+1000 on the greatdaytoride.com seat mod. I had it done. The is VERY reasonable. The full on LD mod is $75 plus shipping. The seat will come back looking stock but feel very firm. It takes a few hundred miles to break in. After i got mine, I did a 500 mile day with NO seat fatigue.
Keep the shiny side up,
Chuck
