I figured i would come on here first. I have an '02 that needs a new clutch lever. I rolled her into my drive way and put the kickstand down on not so level section. You know the rest..... Shes fine, needs a new clutch lever.
Order one from a bazillion places, ebay or pick one up at your local Suzuki dealer. They're only like $9. I don't think I have any extras right now except for black.
A lever for 89-96 will not work right on newer bikes. They changed the clutch safety switch in 1997. Newer bikes require the notch for the switch be deeper.
A lever 97-present will work on all model bikes.
It shouldn't be a problem with an OEM part, but I have found that 3rd party parts sometimes are not deep enough for the newer switch (like black levers made by BikeIt or BikeMaster) when they state 89-96. It can be deepened with a dremel.
Remember to remove the switch before removing the lever.
FYI for others: If 89-96, watch out! The switch is made up of a bunch of tiny parts and have to go back in the right way. (You could always buy a new switch along with the newer lever. Cut wires for clutch switch and put a connector on for the newer switch)
The newer switch is a single switch unit held on with 2 screws.
As an example: note the silver ebay ad has a deeper slot for the switch than the ad for the black lever:

Then get crash sliders. It will prevent levers from getting bent nearly every time. My GS500F fell over when stopping to put her in the garage. ICE! She landed on the crash slider - no damage to bars, levers, mirrors or turn signals.

What kind of crash sliders do you recommend? My bike had engine guards when it went down and that saved the engine, but I'm turning an "E" into an "F" so I don't think they'll fit under the plastics and even if they did they wouldn't protect the plastics. The bar end weight got all scratched up and the bolt bent too, but that did save the bars.
