hey guys! it's been a while since I posted!
dunno if it was done! but I've been wanting to do this forever! since I got a cheap headlight from one of the member! must had it for over a year and finaly got the stock to do it.
I ordered one of those hid len kit from ebay! these are with white angel eyes xenon 6000k. if I was gonna get hids, I was gonna do it right!
please don't ask me to test them, cause I am in canada and the bike is still in storage, I have no clue how to plug them without the bike! soo pictures of it running will have to wait till at least april

now all I have to do is wait till spring, and make the adjustements. find a place to put the wiring and ballast.
and obviosly take pictures of the cutoff of the hid and projector.
leave comments!! be gentle! :icon_mrgreen:
ohh ya if you where wondering, took me about all together 2 hours from start to finish!
Man, that is sexy as hell. I have some projectors laying around that I took out of a newer kia scrap car, thought about doing something with them but never did. How much did you give for yours?

it was about 70$ if I recall!, for a single projector kit! straight from china! I never found anyone else with a gs that had one
can I call FIRST!!!
Looks pretty good. I would be worried about the quality of the projector since it came from China and the fact that you wont be able to test it until April would bother me a little but someone has to be the trend setter and I commend you. The only thing I would ve done differnet is blackout the reflector seeing as though it won't be used for a cleaner fresher look on the F. My....divide by 2....carry the 1...... 2 cents. O0
Looks good. Bixenon?

I'd say you couldn't ask for a better endorsement on this forum.

So that came with the HID kit and projector? You have the seller name or link? Also have any pics of the pattern?
I also forgot to mention that it looks AWESOME!
Wait a second . . . .I just noticed you didn't have to cut anything away. For my retrofit I was gonna have to do a bunch of chopping and gluing to make things go together. Did that one come set up to just fit in the existing hole left by the bulb? Was it really that simple?
He said he had to dremel the reflector a little bit to make it fit.
I think that looks awesome, and if i were any good with my hands I would have done the same, but I just threw an H4 6000k bulb in there haha

it was pretty simple, I forgot to snap of pic of it, but I had to dremel some plastic off the bottom of of the projector.
but overrall it was easy, it's my first time doiing to but I read alot about it at first!
before ordering, I found some pic of other user that took pictures of the pattern. if not good enought you can always open it and mod it to make it better by putting a piece of aluminium in front of it
( not my pics, but still nice for the info )

Projector performance based on those pictures is rather mediocre. The mods that can be done may give more color at the cut off, etc, but they won't help the output much. What really seems to be lacking is light off to the sides. It's mainly focused forward.
That said, for $70, it's certainly not too bad.
I'm a bit curious how they manage to get a high beam in there without any sign of a bixenon solenoid though.
That second pic is horrible. That would definitely blind oncomin traffic. I take it that's the high beam.
some guys at work help me test it out, didn't have a wall to be able to point it at ! but it sure does low and high beam
bare in mind that it looks blue in the pic. but it's WHITE

I'm using the same ccfl rings in my mercedes headlights that I made. This gives a bit better idea of the color they produce.

Hats off to you Wiaho! :)
It looks real clean. Waiting for on-bike-impressions in the near future. You might want to make sure they don't blind oncoming traffic... or it could end up real bad .. you being on a bike and all.
I believe you will go down in GS (known) history as the first person to have a custom projector HID GS500 :thumb:
Will there be any issues with the projector being that close to the lens? Will the light refract off the lens instead of penetrate? Saxman? :icon_confused:

distance from the lens is irrelevant in the world of light penetrating... what matters is the angle from the light beam to the lens. Shouldn't be an issue.
The only potential issue is from heat, however, considering it's a stock headlight, I wouldn't worry about it. It's more of an issue when using cheap aftermarket headlights that use thermoplastics for the lens. They can melt and distort.
updates!
it's still cold here in canada and still snowning! since it's still not on the bike, I decided to ordered some part and reopened it.
look at the results
installed some SMD 5050 LED, they will be wired to my blinkers!

I was thinking to paind the reflector inside all black, but went another way, so then I ordered some SMD 5050 LED, BUT RGB with a controller installed around the projector!
bare in mind I will never run these on the road with other than yellow or white. the other colors are for show >>> well for my friends!
there is option to strobe, flash, fade, and smooth... with all the colors.
pretty neat, aint it? 8)

I'm really interested in doing this. I don't have all the skill, but I do enjoy trying and working on the bike. I changed the headlight to something a little more streetfighter'ish. I have GS500 E with this headlight, but now I'm looking at replacing the light.

For the HID light I was looking at buying this one, but don't know enough about HID's so I was hoping on getting peoples thoughts. What bulb size do I need? H1, H7, 9004, 9005, 9006, 9007, H4(D2S)? Why is it not standard to the projector?

Any helps, any words of wisdom is always appreciated.
Thanks
Wow, those LED turn signals in your headlight look amazing. Can't wait to see it mounted on the bike.
I bought the H4(D2S) because it has the same connector as the stock harness! regarding the headlight you want!
the seller does not say what kind of buld it uses, are you sure that is street legal and will be bright enought, it's only 25w!
dunno if that thing will be big enought too, to fit the projector!
it looks nice, but I see lots of modding and making a custom bracket to have it hold on the bike!

I already bought and installed the headlight. It was a pain to install and I had to fabricate the brackets out of sheet metal. It was a frustrating day but looks really cool now. The headlight is pretty bright, but I thought the HID would make it a lot brighter and better.
I'm going today to make some measurements, but I think it will fit, there is a lot of room.
Thanks. Good to hear the H4(D2S) will go with the stock harness.
Cheers
I'm sure people wanna see how it turned out! post a pic!

There she is.
that looks awesome!
Wow, that headlight looks amazing! If I ever get ahold of an extra headlamp housing I'm definitely making the same attempt. I've recently fell in love with LEDs and Im trying to find good replacements for my blinkers, front and back that match.
Major props on the headlight build. Can't wait to hear how it works installed.
Looks great. I've been planning on doing a projector retrofit on my bike since before I bought it (I did a custom retrofit on my last car).
doesn't look like you have much clearance, what brand of projector did you use? I'm leaning towards the Morimoto Mini (D2S).
Wow, I didn't see this thread before. The HID looks awesome; the built in blinkers even more so. Wish I would have read this post before buying the Aztec8 kit. Meh.
so finally came around to install that headlight!
as promised, so pics

Wow, this is an awesome mod. looks fantastic.
the LED work really puts the cherry on top.
I've have also thought it would be great put turn signals under there, glad you figured it out first.
this should get pinned or posted to wiki page under upgrades!
btw, what is that screen above your vapor gauge?
and what is that on your helmet? it looks like some sort of custom helmet cover.
